December 28, 2011 Dear RAGOM, We are writing you to say thank you. 8 1/2 years ago, August 2003, we were introduced to a great 8 month old named Lucky. He was rescued by RAGOM from a high kill shelter in Kansas City. That meeting and adoption turned out to be a great addition to our family. In our first year together, Lucky who we renamed Dorado, had some anxious times. We learned from his foster family that he had been in a couple of homes before settling in with us. So after an investment in puppy class mixed with a lot of love it didn't take long for him to become a full fledge member of the family. Dorado loved to go for walks down by the lake and romping in the water. He was always first in the truck to go on camping trips. He loved riding in the backseat of our convertible. And no other dog in the neighborhood loved new fallen snow like Dorado. Everyday was a happy day for him, and because of him a happy day for us. Dorado loved his stuffed toys and sharing them with his playmates who would come visit. Even the cat liked to play and share a bed with Dorado. Sadly last night Dorado left us. We learned that he had a pretty aggressive cancer that caused some extensive internal bleeding. Though he didn't seem to be in any pain he was very stressed. After multiple consultations on Tuesday, it was determined that anything we humans could do would only prolong his life for a few additional days. A very hard and emotional decision was made to let our dear family member go. The house is now quiet except for a few momentary tears as the toys lay unplayed with and the food dish remains empty. We want to thank you for what you do and for helping us make the introduction that touched us greatly and will live with us forever. Sincerely, |
