Stevee has arrived from Rapid City, SD! She is doing beautifully. She is in great hands and RAGOM has promised to take great care for her.

Stevee went to the vet today for a quick check up and she weighed in at 4 pounds now and growing like a weed. She had her eyes looked at by an ophthalmologist who happened to be at the vet and she said that the eyes did not looked like they formed and thus she will never have eye sight. We can live with that, now we know what we need to do to help her grow and flourish.

As you can see by the pictures Coal has taken over and is doing a great job of cleaning and caring for her. I just think Coal would have been the best mommy around if she ever had a chance. But she is 9 now, so she just helps out when she can.

Stevee Rae our little angel will not be going anywhere for a while, she needs to do some growing and have some more appointments before she is available for adoption.

From Stevee Rae's forever family...

Stevee Rae just wanted to check in with everyone to say she is doing well. She makes us laugh and cry almost on a daily basis. She is the most stubborn and loving dog around. Her blindness has never slowed her down, most days I wish it would because she bumps into stuff all the time trying to keep up with Sophee.

Stevee has welcomed a few fosters into our home and is usually pretty scared for the first few weeks, but we feel it is important to keep pushing her so she knows we will never let anything hurt her.

Like most blind dogs, she has her frantic moments and the only person who can sooth her is her Daddy, Rick continues to impress me with how gentle he is with her. Sophee loves to bring Stevee in the back woods and leave her there to find her way home, but no fear, we are always close behind to make sure she can find her way home.

We continue to look for ways to help her grow and become trusting to humans, some days are better than others, but for the most part she is never far from her daddy's side.

Here is Stevee enjoying her new pool. We had no idea what she would do in the water, but now we believe we need to find a lake so that we can help her learn to swim - she spent all darn day in the pool! It was so fun to watch.. Sophee of course was right there to help.

Sophee and Stevee Rae

Stevee will be welcoming a new blind foster next Friday, we are hoping she can show Hank all the fine things in life.

Stevee is so very much loved and we thank RAGOM for allowing us to adopt this special girl.

From Stevee Rae's forever family...

Stevee Rae is doing well and starting to learn all the basics of being a normal dog.  Okay as normal as possible with being blind.  She takes a lot of her cues from Sophee Bear -06-488.  If Stevee goes out Sophee will go out with her to keep her safe.

Everything is taking much longer to teach Stevee Rae, but we are getting there.  She still bounces everywhere, she rarely will just walk.  She also thinks jumping up is an okay thing.  We happen to disagree, but that is a tough one and we will continue to work on her skills.

When she is out in public, she is still very scared of her surroundings, but we figure if we continue to bring her to events with fosters and just out in the public she will get better.

Thanks for checking on Stevee!

WELCOME TO YOUR FOREVER HOME STEVEE RAE BUMPER!!!!

Hello everyone – This is a really tough and easy update to write. Stevee has been with us for 7 weeks now and we have totally fallen in love with her. No one else has asked about her, so we have decided that Stevee was meant to be with us.

We have fostered over 100 dogs now, our daughter adopted foster number 53 (Sophee Bear) and now we are going to adopt number 102. Stevee has become such an important part of our lives. As you can tell Sophee and Stevee have become best friends. If Mistee would allow us to take her picture you would see they are doing great together too.

So thank you everyone for looking at this wonderful little girl! She has found her home and will be adopted in a week…

Hello from Stevee Rae and Foster Parents.

Stevee Rae was an awesome car rider, she played for the first 3 hours in the back seat of the car and then napped the last 6 hours. She met Aunty Karen and Uncle Mike and their 4 dogs – she was a little scared but she did okay. She had no accidents either – good girl!

She played and by 9 pm, she was out and wanted to go to bed. So we put her in her crate and she slept until 6 the next morning. She got to stay with Aunty Karen and her group while we moved Ricky into the dorm. We got back at 12 and off we went on our 9 hour drive back. The first 6 hours she slept hard, but after that watch out – we just barely made it into MN and she was ready to play. So we played a little ball in the back of the SUV, chewed bones and ate dinner. When we got home around 9 at night she played with Sophee and Mistee until 11. I could not have asked for a better car rider, what a good girl she was.

Okay now to our Eye appointment today.

Stevee was born with Micropthalmia OU – This is a birth defect with the development of the eye. She has Severe Micropthalmia – her eye is 7mm, when it should be 24mm. She may be able to see a little dark and light but not much.

Depending on her growth pattern Stevee Rae may have a couple of complications down the line, but they are minor. It is possible that she will have to have surgery for Entropion, this is where the eye lids roll in and irritate her eyes. If this happens they correct it by removing some skin from the eyelid. Again this is just a small complication that may or may not happen. The other complication is conjunctivitis (pink eye to you and me). She may have periods where there is marked drainage from her eyes or she is rubbing them more than normal. She will need to be put on an antibiotic ointment to clear this up.

Mr. O. did say it is going to be very important that Stevee Rae have another dog that she can count on and that they have a physical fence to keep her safe. It will also be imperative that she goes to obedience class to keep her safe from harm. She will also need a special teacher to help her learn words like Step, Stop, Sit, Left, Right, Door, Wall and several others to help her keep safe.

Thanks for looking at Stevee – we know it is going to take someone very special to love and care for her.

Stevee’s big adventure!

Stevee is going to head back to the state where she came from – Stevee, Ricky, Rick and I are going to bring Ricky to college tomorrow – we will be spending 9 hours in the car to get there and then 9 hours to come home on Saturday. Aunty Karen is going to watch Stevee while we get Ricky moved in.

Stevee came from a breeder in SD, but we won’t be visiting this nice man who is giving her a golden chance. Because, remember, Stevee has her eye doctor appointment on Tuesday and we are all so very hopeful!!!

I will write more on Monday!!!!

Stevee has had a couple of rough days and we keep hoping she will snap out of it. She will only sleep where she and Coal would sleep, she has taken over the vent. I keep taking Stevee off because the air is on and I think it is too cold for her without Coal there.

Stevee now wanders around looking for Coal but cannot find her. She has noticed Mistee once in a while but it is just not the same. She will look for Sophee when she wants to play, but it is not as often as it used to be. So we decided Stevee will have a little play night tonight. We are going to bring her out to the cul-de-sac and play come and get us. This is where we stand really far apart and call her and give her lots of treats when she finds us. She is actually really good at it and usually loves to play it.

Stevee and the foster family wanted to thank everyone for all the kind words – even Stevee’s sponsors sent their well wishes. We so much appreciate that! It has been a tough few days for all of us, but now we need to work on finding a perfect home for Stevee so we can help even more dogs. Coal was and always will be the most incredible dog anyone could own. However, Stevee is a close second with those really cool eyes!

If you are interested in Stevee, just let us know.

Stevee came into our lives 5 weeks ago and immediately took to Coal our oldest Newfoundland. Coal was the one who took over and mothered Stevee and taught her the ropes. Stevee even thought Coal could give her a little milk - but that never did work, I am sure Coal thought it did.

Coal was never able to be a mother, but she sure mothered the pups. She loved cleaning Stevee and took special care of her. Last week we brought Coal and Stevee in for their checkups and was told that Coal would not make it long. Her hips had deteriorated very quickly the past few weeks. As of Saturday Coal could no longer get up and Stevee would cry because Coal would not clean her all up.

On Monday we found Coal and Stevee snuggled together yet again and knew someone was trying to tell us something. Coal was given mass amounts of Pain Pills so the family and Stevee could get use to the idea of losing yet another mother.

This morning at 4 am Stevee woke us up because Coal was not feeling well and was trying to move - we tried getting Coal up and Stevee and Coal cried together. They have bonded way more than any other dog.

At just over 9 years old Coal was helped over the bridge this afternoon. Stevee accompanied the family so she knew that she lost yet another mother in her life. Stevee is now looking for a family that will never leave her and to have a family dog that will help her grow and thrive.

Please everyone, hug your fur dogs for all of us, we are thankful we have Foster Stevee, resident dogs Sophee Bear and Mistee Bubbles to help us through this time.

But we also realize Stevee needs her forever family so she can know the joys of her own family!

Connie, Rick, Cindee, Ricky, Sophee Bear, Mistee Bubbles and Stevee Rae!

Stevee continues to do well. This week we noticed in her left eye she actually has an iris that you can see every once in a while. So we are hoping this is a good thing. Honestly I don’t know what it means, but we will know on the 2nd of September when we go to the eye doctor. We are so excited about that visit. It would be really cool if she could get sight in the one eye. But we cannot get our hopes too high.

Other than that, Stevee is doing well on her potty training. The days she does horribly is when her hay gets wet. She hates wet hay and will insist on peeing in the house. So we will continue to work on that. She follows our voices and our sounds. You no longer have to talk to get her to follow you, you just say "Stevee, come" and she will follow the sounds of your feet. Well, at least she will Rick's feet.

Stevee went to the vet last week to get another set of puppy shots and micro-chipped. She weighed in at 10 pounds! She is still looking for that special family.

Hi Everyone – sorry it has taken so long to get this update in. Stevee was not doing very well and so we were trying to figure out what was going on. But I am glad to say, she is finally on the mends and making everyone smile again.

Last Friday we noticed that Stevee was sleeping a lot more and not real hungry. I chalked it up to the hot weather. I had to leave on Saturday and so hubby took over the puppy care duties. On Saturday night he called and said we needed to get her in right away on Sunday. I made it back home on Sunday morning at 7:30 am. We got in to see the vet by 10 and they were very worried. By this time Stevee completely stopped eating and was starting to get dehydrated because when she did have to Pooh, it was all water.

So off to X-rays she went because the doctor found something hard in her intestine. Now the worrying starts to happen. After many x-rays they did find something in there – they thought it might be worms or other complications from having worms. So Dr. Ralph was in and he did an ultrasound – thank you!!! – that showed it was nothing more serious than an obstruction. Now we had to decide what to do from here.

So we gave an IV to get her nice and hydrated and went home knowing the next 24 hours would be crucial. She had to eat and she had to get this obstruction out. We made her hamburger and tossed in A/D food. It was a pretty tough night and Monday morning but finally at 3:30 on Monday afternoon she got the first of the blockage out – a nice pile of worm parts kept coming.

It’s now Tuesday and she is back to her own self again. She is playing and running and carrying on like she was not blind. She loves to run up and down the driveway. One person gets down to the bottom and the other at the top and we call her and she runs to you as fast as her little legs can carry her. It is so darn cute. She still would do best with another dog that she can follow around and be with. She is looking for a fenced in yard so she can not get lost and most of all, her family has to be dedicated to training her to be the best dog around. Trust me, she is a spit fire. Stevee is also crate trained and has never had an accident while she sleeps in there or her play pen. She does however still get up around 3:30 to go potty but then goes back to bed.

Stevee has an opthamology appointment on September 2nd to see if we can save any of her sight, so keep her in your prayers and let us know if you are that very special family.

Wow does time fly by. Stevee is now 7 weeks old and loving life. She sleeps a lot still and gets up once or twice a night to go potty and than goes right back to sleep – what a good girl.

She has started playing with toys. We try to have lots of stuff that makes noises so she can follow balls around and chase after them. Of course Sophee thinks she should get them first. When Stevee starts playing with Sophee she tries to stand on her hind legs and jump at her. It is so darn cute. We are still working on the word Wall, Door, Step up, Step down and STOP. Every day we make progress.

When she is in her kennel and she has to potty she lets you know she wants out NOW to go. I think that is a great sign. She always goes in the same spot and we always go out the same way. Once she hits her hay, she knows it is potty time. She is so good about that.

Stevee is going to go with Auntee Cindy and Lindsey to Dog Days at Alimagnet Park on July 26th for a little visit and then Cindee our daughter will come and pick her up. We are going to the car show this weekend, so we have lots of people babysitting our little Stevee.

Stevee is still looking for her perfect family and she would love to meet her admirers. So if you are looking for a lovely little girl who has the most beautiful eyes, let placement know.

Stevee Rae is still a Ray of sunshine at our house. She has started drinking water from the big girls dish, she loves Mistee's food and even eats her own mush and hard when she feels it is worthy of eating. Honestly she would much rather eat and sleep in Mistee's food.

Stevee went down to the pool the fast few days and has learned a few lessons. When we say stop, she has to STOP and not keep going. If she keeps going something bad is going to happen to her. She almost has that word down now. It may be the urgency in our voice she knows, but she is learning. We have decided for her own safety she needs to learn how to swim. So she is going to puppy swimming lessons. For the most part she hates it but she is a great swimmer! She does a great doggy stroke and does not miss a beat.

Stevee probably weighs in at 6 pounds now, she is getting so big (see the shoe picture. She now sleeps from 9 to 2 and then potties and then back to bed until 6:15. Watch out she is a hungry girl at 6:15. No coffee will be had until Foster daddy feeds her.

Stevee will be looking for her forever family in a few weeks, but we already know, she needs a physical fence, she needs older kids, another dog would be wonderful, a family that WILL and this is a MUST, bring her to class to learn how to be a great dog. Stevee may have some medical issues that will need to be dealt with in the years to come, so someone will need to plan for that.

But for now, Stevee is hanging out, having a great time and learning the ropes of life. Some are pretty odd ropes if you ask me!
