Carlos (Trooper 11-256)

Profile

Let me introduce you to Trooper 11-256! He and his brother Storm 11-255 have a sad story to tell. They have been living in a hog house for 2 years on abandoned property, very neglected as a result of a divorce! Before this they lived with children and had a loving family, so how you just throw two dogs to the hogs is beyond me!! So, they were very dirty and matted for sure but they clean up very nice!  They had a long ride to get to me, 10 hours and did just great in the car, so they love to ride.  Anyway they are now safe and have a place to lay their heads and stay warm or cool, which ever they need! I have both boys living with me and would really like to find a family that would take them both, these 2 have been through hell and back and really rely on each other. You would get double your pleasure with these boys. I'm going to talk about them together and as individuals.

I have had the boys now for 3 days and they are super dogs, which just amazes me being what they came from. We have had NO accidents and they go to the door when they want out, which is fantastic! They are huge dogs, about 90 lbs each, so they do need to lose some weight and we are working on that. They do not know what to do with a ball. I throw the ball and they run to it, but then just look at it.

Probably the biggest thing they need help with is walking on a leash. They have no clue what to do. Storm just kinda stops when the leash gets put on him, but then when brother starts walking he will follow!

They are big lap dogs so if you want a big lap dog they are for you! Very friendly guys and just want nothing more than to be petted and loved.

The first night I had them sleep in their place with a gate up and they did great, no peeps from them at all. The second night they barked a couple times so I thought OK, let's let them just sleep out so I let them out and they went right to the couch and stayed there all night! So, free roam will be no problem from what I can tell. I will keep you posted on that.

We have a cat and they like to give her the eye for sure, but she puts them both in their places in a hurry!

We will keep you posted as to how these boys are doing!!

From the forever family of Carlos and Charlie (formerly known as Storm and Trooper)...

We were so blessed to have adopted a RAGOM dog in 2004. Unfortunately, in June of this year we lost Rambo. Our hearts were broken. As the days passed, we knew we had the love to adopt another dog. We contacted RAGOM and went through the process of adopting another dog. My sister-in-law volunteers for RAGOM and one day she called and said "Have you considered two dogs? There are two handsome dogs available". Two dogs? What would we do with two dogs? We had a family meeting and decided we could handle two dogs as long as they were handsome.

I was in contact with the foster mom almost daily while we waited to meet them. Our family was so excited. We could hardly contain ourselves. The foster mom was so patient with me. I was so excited to meet these guys that I think I bothered her most every day asking for updates! They are two amazing people and we are so blessed that they were the foster parents. Our boys adored them!

She said she really needed for us to fence our yard. We worked through rain storms to make that happen by the date we had agreed to meet the dogs. We were set. But, what would we do if they didn't love us at first sight? We drove up there on a Saturday and before we walked in my husband took my hand and said "Promise me we will be able to walk away if they are not what we are looking for". I said "I promise". Well, we walked in and my husband sat down and both boys walked up to him and gently kissed his face. He said "Go get the checkbook"...and we have been in heaven ever since.

If anyone is wondering what it is like to have two dogs instead of one - it is double the love, double the fun! We are so blessed and so thankful to have found these sweet angels. We are in heaven. More updates later. Have included a picture of Carlos and Charlie!

I’m sorry, I forgot to let you all know that both Storm and Trooper are 5 year old male purebreds. They are dark red in color and have long hair!

Last night was a great night for them, they slept all night on the couch again!

These pictures below show them invading my daughter's bed.  They look like they may have found a new place to sleep!!
