Allie was surrendered to RAGOM by a commercial breeder and is quickly learning to enjoy life as a family dog. She will need another medium to large, confident dog in her forever home to continue this transition and put her at ease in all the new situations she encounters. Because sudden movements and loud noises scare Allie, any children in her home should be age 10 or older. She hasn’t been tested with cats. A physical fence is required to keep Allie safe.

Allie is a 3-year-old retired breeder and purebred Golden Retriever. She came to our home on May 16. She showed a little fear when she first came in; however, she quickly adjusted to fit in our house. Allie had her first vet visit on May 21. She is generally very healthy and everything came back negative. Her spay surgery is scheduled for June 3.

Allie gets along really well with our resident dog (a 6-year-old lab). She is more confident and comfortable at home when our resident dog is with her, and she will require another medium to large, confident dog in her forever home to help continue her transition to a family dog.

She does not have food or toy guarding issues. She actually does not really play with toys. She eats dry dog food with no problem. She is jealous when our dog gets attention and will come over and ask for petting as well.

She barks at the neighbor's dogs over the chain-link fence and will run back and forth with the dogs along the fence in a friendly way. Allie is interested in chasing after birds or dogs passing by on a walk, so a physical fence is required to keep her safe.

She is excited to see other people and kids but does not overreact. She rarely jumps up on people even when she's excited. It has happened only once or twice within a week.

Allie understands basic commands like sit and no. She can sense the intent when you raise your voice and will immediately come and sit or lay in front of you or put her head on your lap and ask for petting. She is nervous about loud noises and sudden movement, so children in her forever home should be 10 or older.

Allie is scared of the crate and won't go inside on her own. However, if she is put inside the crate, she will lay down and stay calm and quiet. When she is let out of the crate, she'll come out excitedly. If allowed to sleep in the bedroom, she sleeps well on the floor and does not jump onto the bed.

Allie also behaves really well on car rides. She mostly just sits in the back seat and watches out the window or sleeps. Allie does extremely well on leash while walking. She walks calmly with no pulling at all and stays behind me all the time. However, she will get excited when she sees other dogs or people and will run towards them. But after pulled back once she normally will become calm again.

Overall, Allie is a very sweet girl who loves attention. She is very well behaved and socialized, although she is more comfortable with another dog around. She has never shown any signs of aggression or biting. I have not seen any alarming behavior from her. I believe she'll be a perfect pet in a loving family.
