Ally (K.D.) was born into RAGOM on 5/10/2007 to mom 07-243 Cheryl; she was part of a group rescue from Missouri in the Spring of 2007. Ally (K.D.) was one of seven puppies born. ( 07-331 Zoe (Dutchess), 07-332 Mia (Masie), 07-333 Ally (K.D.), 07-334 Abby, 07-335 Riley (Smokey), 07-336 T.J., 07-337 Buddy (Niko)

Ally (K.D.) was named K.D. by RAGOM and was renamed Ally when she was adopted in 2007. Ally was lucky to have been adopted into a loving family, but unfortunately her family dynamics have changed and Ally was returned to RAGOM again to be “re-homed.” This was a hard decision for the Surrendering Owner, but her and her children knew returning her to RAGOM was what was best for Ally. They knew Ally deserved a new family who would have more time to give her lots of love and attention. We want to thank her surrendering family for taking care of Ally and for shaping her into the friendly loving girl she is today. She is truly a sweet heart. “Ally-Gator” is doing great in her foster home and will make a great companion for her new family. I wanted to include a few of Ally’s puppy pictures, to show she has not lost her cuteness. J

We received Ally on last Thursday night and she came to us a little nervous. She showed us all of the toys she came with. Ally also came with a kennel, food dishes and food. We assembled her kennel right away since she seemed nervous and we wanted her to have a safe place if she needed it. Once the kennel was put together, she went in and dropped off her stuffed baby seal toy and came back out. She then came to both of us for some love and attention which we were more than willing to give her. She knows her name, so comes trotting with a wiggle butt to receive her hugs and kisses.

On Friday we took Ally to the vet and groomer. Ally has some Sebaceous Cysts on her head which she had scratched the largest of the cysts behind her left ear which has now become infected. The vet is going to surgically remove the cysts to prevent future infections. Sounds as though Ally may be prone to these cysts, so we will get some tips from the vet to learn how to care for her. If you are looking to sponsor a dog for the holidays Ally would be a good one! It is going to take a significant amount of money to remove the infected cyst (In big part to the shear amount of time the surgery will take.)

Ally went to the groomer after the vet appointment, the groomer said she was wonderful. Then said most dogs do not like the hair dryer, but Ally actually leaned into the dryer air. She just loves to be touched and petted and will take whatever attention she can. If your hand is near she will nudge it with her nose to make sure you know you should be petting her. J

Thanks for reading Ally’s update. She has been a great, well mannered, friendly, dog so far. We have been taking her on long and short car rides to get her used to it. To show her the car is a safe and fun place we have been taking her on rides to fun destinations like walks in the park. Good news! When we dropped Ally off for her surgery today, she has lost 1 ½ pounds. She is now weighing in at 79 pounds, only a few more to go. The vet is think she should be around 70 pounds.

December 13th, 2012

We have had Ally for year today! She has had a big year. She has been through obedience I & II. She started showing some anxiety when in a car or on a walk. This anxiety does not keep us from exposing her to new things. She may not like the car ride, but she likes where ever we end up.

Ally learned to play with other dogs this year too. She is a shy girl, so she would never initiate play on her own. Thanks to Foster dog Duke she learned to wrestle. We thought she would never stop wrestling...she would be covered in saliva after playing with him. When Duke was adopted she didn't bat an eye, I think she was glad to get a chance to rest. :-)

We took in Buddy next and she wanted nothing to do with him. Finally, after two weeks she decided he wasn't so bad and would play "keep away" or "chase" with him. He LOVED this!! Unfortunately, Buddy de-stuffed one of Ally's favorite toys...Green Weenie...she was not to happy with the demise of Green Weenie. When Buddy was adopted she was happy to see her stuffed toys come out again, but seems sad Buddy was gone.

Overall Ally has had a great year. She learned to pick Black Berries fresh off the bush with Duke. She learned to share her home and teach a young dog appropriate behaviors. She has rolled in the snow and hung out with Blue Bear. Does life get better than this?

Thank you RAGOM for taking Ally in. We are sure lucky to have her Fur-butt! We love her to pieces, quirks and all!!

Ally was a good foster sister to Duke 12-165. Duke was Adopted and taken to his forever home, In South Dakota, on Saturday August 4th. We took Ally and Duke for a bath and ice cream before he left on Saturday. I think Ally missed him a little at first, but has been pretty happy having us back to herself!

Duke gave Ally a little bit more confidence riding in the car. However, she is still a little anxious. She certainly likes to keep an eye on where we are going. I took a picture of her supervising her Dad’s driving.

Ally has learned a new trick! She now jumps into the front seat when the passenger seat is open. She just wants to be close. J Ally loves loves loves to be groomed. I have included a picture showing Ally after her latest “beauty” treatment. She is just adorable with her white face and pink bows. The bows did not last long. Foster brother Duke initiated wrestling and out came the bows.

Tyler also showed Ally and Duke the Blackberry bushes. Oh boy! New past time in the backyard is hunting for “fallen” berries. Blackberries are loved too!

Thanks again to RAGOM for taking this girl in. We love her so much! I think we get just as much love back…she is just the best!!

Ally is a great dog! She has had a little bit of anxiety on walks, but we are working with her on this. She has completed obedience I & II and is such a good girl!

I wanted to share a couple of pictures of Ally in the kiddy pool. She is not quite “swimming” yet, but she is not shy to get her feet wet.

From Ally's forever family...

We love our Ally! She is great and is doing great with us. Thanks RAGOM for taking her in.

Ally’s hair has grown back in, but it definitely needs to get longer yet. I have included a picture from her recent visit to Bubbly Paws. They were running a promotion called the Bubbly Bowl, which benefited RAGOM, and they were making trading cards for the doggie customers. Ally made running back! J

We also started the first level of obedience with her. So far so good…however, we have it easy since she already knew how to sit and overall she is a very calm girl. We have our next class tonight.

We would like to start off by thanking Michael and Cindy Stevens for Sponsoring Ally! Your sponsorship helps make RAGOM's vet costs much more affordable. Without generosity like yours RAGOM would not be able to help out as many dogs, like Ally. She is sending you both one big lick!

We are happy to report Ally made it through her surgery with flying colors! I am sharing some before and after pictures. We have been referring to Ally as Franken-Ally since the surgery. She has been looking pretty sad running around with a cone on her head.

We would also like to share with you, this popular girl has met her forever family and is being adopted. She will be living with a mom and dad and I know she will be spoiled in her new home. Lucky dog! Lucky people!

Good luck Ally!
