Miss Amber had an awesome weekend! She wants to thank all of her fans for coming to C & D's on Saturday to meet her! She now knows that many people love and adore her : ) After C & D's she watched her first Lacrosse game and was a perfect little lady in the bleachers. She layed down with her head on a fan's shoe and watched intently. She was bummed that her team lost, but pranced out of the stadium with her head high! The rest of the day consisted with playing with Penny, a walk and a GReat night sleeping, she was "one pooped pup!"
Sunday was so much fun! She got to experience what a swimming pool is! She was so excited when Penny went in the pool that she ran around the pool a couple times as fast as she could, turned and ran around it the other way. She learned to take the corners slow, so she would "rev it up" on the long stretches and then slow around the corners. It was so funny! She was pretty brave and went into the water up to her "knees," but not any further. If the ball went in and she could not reach, she would just look at us like, HELLO? could someone get the ball for me! She was a funny girl!
Amber is starting to feel more comfortable and is not as attached to FM. She will wander around in the house and find a place to lay down and rest, go find someone else to pet her or just hang out with Penny. She has gotten to be pretty independent here. She is eating great and loves her treats and bedtime snack - usually an apple. The dogs here eat better than the people! She was presumed to have allergies, so I am trying to keep her free of any grains. I boiled up a chicken last night and both furr kids had that with their grain free food.
We are awaiting a date for her surgery, but look forward to that being behind us. I am concerned to leave her at the vet because I know she will be scared, but I will send a blanket that she has been sleeping with to comfort her. It will be same day surgery, no overnight stay, so she can come home and recover here.
That's all the news for now. Thank you for reading up on our Amber girl.

Amber has been with me almost 24 hours now and she is the sweetest, cuddliest GR with a spunky spirit and a Golden heart. She slept on the bed with me (I wouldn't have it any other way. After all, she had been alone every night for the past 30 days - she needed human comfort) and she always had to be touching me. She plopped herself practically on top of me (and she is a heavy "plopper!") and frequently through the night she would give me a kiss or put her paw on me. She is adorable. She does this silly moaning/grunting noise when she wants to be petted, but if you stop (to type an update about her) she will lay by your feet or find a dog bed next to the computer and chew on a dog toy. I left her and Penny (resident GR) alone for a few hours this morning in the office and when I got home, they were relaxed. Amber on the dog bed and Penny on her favorite chair.
I forgot to mention that Amber weighs 65 lbs. When she was dropped off at the HS, she weighed 73 lbs. The vet thought her weight was ideal at 65 lbs, so she is ready for swimsuit season at her current weight! She is on the short side and has a fuller body, so she is a round, wiggly, little lovebug! She sits for treats and to be petted, but she will jump on you when she is excited. She knows she only gets lovin' when she is sitting pretty and looks at you with those adoring eyes. She does have to most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. When she is smiling, they are almond shaped and cute, cute, cute! Can you tell I love this girl!
Amber and Penny have been fine together. Penny is more of a "boy dog girl," but tolerates the girlie furr butts that come through. Amber will play bow to her and it is adorable. She has the longest fluffiest feathers on her tail and bum and with her short stature, it just puts a smile on your face. Amber ate really good last night and this morning too. I am feeding her SoJo, which is a no-grain freeze dried vegetable combination that I mix with water. I also added some browned hamburger and rice. She ate it all up and then finished off Penny's too!
We are waiting for her surgery to be scheduled, so she is unavailable for adoption until after her surgery - but, that does not mean I cannot meet my forever family : ) The vet said it is a similar recovery to a spay, so she will have discomfort, but we will handle that with pain meds and rest.
Thank you for reading up on Amber. I will leave her tag line of nicknames she has aquired thus far below.
Amber Bug, Am Ham, Amber Goose, Aamy Mammy.
