Angel 09-038

Profile

Angel #09-038 has arrived at her cold and snowy northern MN  foster home and started playing in the snow right away... at -23°! Angel was in a very loving home with kids and a wonderful environment but unfortunately her owner's had to move to a smaller place that did not allow pets. It was a very difficult decision for the owner's to contact RAGOM and we thank them very much for doing so.

Angel is a 6 year old female spayed PB Golden Retriever who has already lived up to her name in the short time we've had her. Angel is house-trained, loves to snuggle, plays fetch, knows all the basic commands and more, walks great on a leash, has a great temperament, has a "happy prance" when she walks, and has a very beautiful and very red coat color. Angel will be visiting our friends at the Garrison Animal Hospital next week for a check-up and we'll be able to pass on more Angel info then. Meanwhile we'll be getting to know Angel better....maybe she'll explain why she loves to have snow kicked up in the air so she can leap and jump at it.....might be a new workout thing......

From Angel's forever family...

Angel is 7 years old and we adopted her in February of 2009. She was out of shape. and had trouble making it up the stairs in our home. After 4 months of "doggy bootcamp", Angel has come a long way. She has lost 12 pounds and can run 3 miles. On a warm spring day we also discovered her love for the water as we visited a creek near our home. What fun we had playing fetch in the creek with Angel and watching her swim like a fish!!

Here is Angel sunning herself after a swim in a nearby creek.

It seems that with each season we learn something new about Angel. It will be fun to see what the future has in store for us and our newest (furry) family member.

Angel is doing very well with her new Adoptive Family the "JB'sx4" and I'm sure she's showing them how to catch snowballs. Angel as she is aptly named and we'll miss her as she made us laugh every day with her happy mood and genuine affection. We hope that there will be another Angel GR headed our way as it's great having Angel's in our lives!

Angel has met with her forever home adoptive family who is very excited to have Angel bring them the joy and laughter that we have experienced while fostering Angel. She truly is an angel and will be missed by all who have met her, including her walking dog mates that she looks forward to seeing a couple of times a day.  Angel would like to thank everyone that wanted to meet her, and hopefully they will meet their forever GR soon. Gotta go now as Angel says it's time to go for a walk, and thank you very much for your inquiries!

Angel continues to live up to her name and makes us laugh everyday! Angel has a tremendously happy spirit that's contagious and really brightens your day. She loves going outside to explore and has met several of the "local" country dogs who are teaching her how to walk thru the woods and snow and follow any type of game trail, even though I'm pretty sure if she met a critter I think that critter has nothing to fear. This morning it was -23 and barely light and there was Angel waiting by the door with that "let's go" look......you just gotta laugh!

We all wish that there would be many more Angel's that are looking for their "furever home" (I borrowed these words from another RAGOM volunteer - I just love it!), and it looks like Angel may be meeting a family this weekend. Angel thanks everyone who have asked to meet her, and it's very difficult to choose as every adoptive families and persons are just great folks. We thank everyone for choosing adoption avenues such as RAGOM.....it's difficult to explain in words what it means to all of us.....I think it's best said thru the foster dog's pictures and bio's. Don't get discouraged and please keep checking www.ragom.org as there's likely to be another Angel who needs you to be their lifeline...

This is my second Angel in a couple of months as we also had Angel 08-543 (http://ragom.org/avail.cgi/Available/dog?dog_id=3836)  who's being loved by the L family now.....we'll take as many Angel's as we can get!

Angel has been busy the last few days getting used to country life - all sorts of animals in the area that she really can't see but sure can smell them. Today Angel visited our good friends at the Garrison Animal Hospital in Garrison, MN and Dr. K says Angel needs to lose a few pounds as she weighs in about 83 lbs!, making her a bit heavier than we'd like her to be.....as we walk 3-4 times per day this will help get her some exercise and we'll switch her to more of a "Senior" diet dog food, which will help greatly. Angel already had a microchip implanted in her, along with a tattoo that we discovered - Angel says it's not a gang tattoo but it's one to show she's been spayed already. Dr. K pronounced her fit and noted she'll need to have her teeth cleaned within the next year.

Angel is allowed to full roam in the house and we've had no troubles whatsoever.....she's always on her best behavior and will try to cuddle with you every chance she can but will lay down when told. Angel has met the other dogs and folks on our road and gets along with them very well. She continues to walk great on an extended leash, loves to play in the snow, and loves to sniff at any tracks she sees, or every smell she smells. We've left Angel alone and not crated for about 5 hours and she was wonderful. She does her duties outside and actually returns to the same spots- give or take a few feet - where she first did her duties. She is not an early riser - yay! - and will get up pretty much whenever you do. She has been trying to take naps but we keep her busy and she sleeps well at night.

Angel prefers to ride in the front passenger seat when in the truck, and today she picked up her leash and brought it to me so she could go for a walk.....each day we find out more neat things about Angel....we don't think we'll have her for too long as she indeed is an absolute sweetie who immediately wins over everyone she meets!
