Angel Girl 06-382

Profile

9/7/06: Hello everyone! My name is Angel Girl; you can call me "Angel" for short. I am 11 years old, on the medium-to-small size for a Golden, 55-60 pounds, and dark golden or red in color. I've been a very good girl my entire life, but the kids have grown up and my people are moving.

My foster mom is on the phone right now making an appointment to see the vet, but I am pretty much up-to-date on shots and on heartworm preventative. I hear I get to have a microchip inserted, and possibly run a senior blood profile to make sure everything is working fine. I do have a small lump in my chest area that my old vet was watching, but hasn't changed in size so never had to do anything about it.

I am completely housebroken, not destructive, but can be slightly afraid during storms. I shake when I'm scared and just want to be with my people. Otherwise, I'm very friendly and have a loving spirit. I do like to bark at people when they walk nearby, just to say Hi.

I have a foster brother, Thomas 06-174, and Libby the Yellow Lab. Libby is about six years old and Thomas is just one year. Everyone here has been real nice to me, even the three cats. I lived with a cat before, so that?s no big deal. I kinda like being with dogs like me! We all ate breakfast together this morning, and I gobbled up my food just like the others. Nobody bugged me and I didn't bug anyone else. It's like we've been together for years...

Enjoy the photos of me; I was kinda getting sick of foster mom pointing that silver thing at me and the big flash of light, so most of the time I turned my back to the camera, even though mom kept telling me what a beautiful girl I am. Well, time for a nap. I've done a lot in the last 12 hours!

It's been two weeks since my last update on Angel?!? Wow, time flies when you're having fun :) Angel has been a wonderful and easy addition to my household. This morning, I went out to have breakfast with my folks and brought the dogs for a car-ride since it was such a lovely day. I was amazingly ten minutes early, so let the dogs out for a walk around a baseball field - when Angel spied a pond! She is such a water dog, so made a beeline right for the pond and leapt in, and Libby the Yellow Lab actually followed her lead and jumped in as well. We all returned to my car, the dogs happy and refreshed - and DIRTY! :) Good thing I have leather interior...and my Dad thinks my car "...needs a hair cut."

Angel has now taken on her new role as Lead Foster Dog, and is doing very well showing our new Bailey 06-436 the ropes this evening; the two have been inseparable. I must say she's is doing a darned good job; Libby is pretending that nothing is going on and minding her own business as usual.

It is difficult to photograph Angel Girl and all the funny things she does. Her ears remind me of Pippy Longstocking - when she's attentive and listening to something, her ears literally stick out sideways, like airplane wings. And that tail of hers is high, tall, and proud. Pretty much puts to shame our new Bailey's tail, which is about as thick at Libby's tail (no feathering at all).

She is such a good girl, with her only issue being storms. I was at work when the Rogers tornado came through, and Angel had a potty accident that she felt TERRIBLE about. Otherwise, the dogs have the run of the house when I am gone and have had no issues whatsoever. Angel is cat-friendly and does not pursue them in the least or try to visit their bathroom. She is also very good and does not try to wander; responds immediately to her name.

If you are a busy family with children and think you want a young dog or a puppy; good luck with that. Angel is a dog that would blend in with your family, not demand any attention - but soak up any you are willing to spare. She's not a trouble-maker and won't cause you to rip out your hair or wish you'd never adopted a dog....she is such a sweet gal and will give so much Golden Love you'll wonder how you lived without her. If you need any more convincing, check out our page on Senior Goldens. In fact, someone may need to pry her leash out of my own hands now... :)

Hi everyone! Foster mom and I had a long conversation tonight about the RAGOM picnic on Saturday. She told me that she really wants to take Thomas 06-174 so that he can meet new people and possibly find his Forever Family, but that Thomas is a "handful" and will need all of her attention. And, that's fine actually because I'm not quite ready to meet everyone yet...I see RAGOM's vet Wednesday morning to make sure everything is as good as it gets for an 11 year-old gal like me. Mom tells me that my breath is really nasty and it could be because of my teeth. We'll see what the doctor says tomorrow, but I certainly don't want to have bad breath and a brown smile when meeting all of you for the first time!

As you can see from my new picture, Libby the Yellow Lab and I are buddies and enjoy sharing mom's Queen-sized bed. We were so comfy Monday night that mom went downstairs to the couch and slept with Thomas - that was GREAT!!!
