Angel (Turbo Angel 07-455)

Profile

Turbo/Angel is not quite turbocharged but she is an Angel! She is the sweetest, gentlest golden I've ever met. When we got home I had to give her a bath and she's the only dog I've ever had who absolutely loved it! She even let me clean her ears which sends most dogs into a head-shaking tizzy...but not Angel. She just waited patiently until I was done and then gave me a polite "thank you" smile. Even though Angel has only been here for two days, she follows me around the house and nuzzles me for pets like we're old friends. She also gets along really well with the other dogs (all four!) and we're slowly introducing her to the cats. But Angel is most fascinated by our four-year-old daughter, Abigail. Apparently she was never around young children before and, much to my surprise, Angel seems to think that Abigail is a puppy! She started licking Abigail from head to toe which resulted in a major giggle fest for both dog and child!

We're off to the vet in a few days for a check-up. Angel has a spot on one ankle that is irritated from licking. We were told that she does that when she's nervous, but I haven't seen her do it since she's been here...a very good sign!

Angel spent the first eight years of her life living in an outdoor kennel and having puppies. She's now starting to enjoy her golden years and loves to be pampered! Angel made one more trip to the vet this week. He cleaned her teeth and ears so now she has a bright smile to go with her beautiful face! He also checked the sore spots on her legs and noted that they are healing nicely. The fur is growing back everywhere except over the old scar on her left foreleg.

Angel still gets along great with all of the other dogs. The young ones like to steal her toys, but she doesn't seem to mind. She just picks up another one. As for cats, the previous owner said that Angel was aggressive towards cats. We have three cats and, like most dogs, Angel is curious about them but she has not shown any aggression towards them. However, to be on the safe side, Angel's forever home should not have cats.

And Angel still desperately needs to be near me and follows me absolutely everywhere. She is a wonderful, gentle, devoted companion who is now ready to share her love with her forever family!

Angel went to the vet this week. Aside from a few minor "owies" she's in very good health. She has yeast infections in both ears, which will be treated over the next few days. And her teeth are quite dirty, so the vet is going to clean them to give her a bright smile to go with that beautiful face. He also checked the apparent hotspots on her front legs and said that one is an old scar and the other is where the catheter was placed when she was spayed. She tends to lick these areas which causes some irritation, so he prescribed an antibiotic/corticosteroid spray which should help them heal. And she weighed in at 86 lbs, so she is a little overweight. She's slightly taller than average, so her ideal weight is probably around 75 lbs.

On the fun side, Angel sticks to me like glue! All she wants is to be loved. And Angel is still so incredibly gentle. She is the only dog that our four-year-old daughter can walk without being pulled. The only bad thing I can say about her is that she really has it in for Elmo! Angel is positively obsessed with him... I've hidden him all over the house and she finds him every time! Must be that high squeaky voice...
