| I'm writing you to say that our sweet Golden girl, Anna 06-097, on January 14, 2009 went to the Rainbow Bridge. I've started to write this many times and have had to stop. The snow is gently falling and Anna loved to go out in the snow and lay down on a pillow of snow and get covered with a soft white blanket of snow. I know that so many of the tributes are so wonderful to read. I want to thank Ragom for all our dogs, but I also wonder if the people that gave Anna up or the foster family wonder how she did? To the family that gave her up I know you deeply loved your dogs. Anna came with two of each toy so I know you gave your love in 2's. We added so many toys and she would take her pick out of a basket. She was very well trained and so gentle. Thank you for such a sweetie. To the foster family after losing Amber I can see why you might have wanted to keep her. Thank you.
Anna came and was alpha dog and Mason loved to have her here. I'd find those two by each other's side most of the time. Anna loved to be on our deck. She would make sure no squirrels touched the ground. We have a wooded area which is patrolled regularly and Anna would run off the deck to bark and let them know that she was watching. I think it was fun for the patrol to see if they could get by either driving very slowly so as not to make noise, or go by quickly to see if she could get to the fence before they passed our property line. In any event the guards this last year would stop to greet her. They even stopped to say they missed her not greeting them. Anna had it easy here as I was home and could let her in and out whenever she wanted. Mason, Anna and I would take daily walks to the park to look for squirrels or ducks . It was very common around 3:00 for the dogs to Woo-Woo as if to say let's go. We had all of Anna's warts removed and let her hair grow. She was like a woolly sheep and she loved to be brushed and I would gently rub her neck. This last year she had developed diabetes and lost her sight but you would not know it around the house and yard. She became very close to me as I was her seeing eye human. She had gone to the park so many times that she knew the route and I really didn't guide her as much as tell her when something was in her path. She had made it a habit to go to a point where the ducks would come out of the water. We continued doing this and there on the bank of the pond we would sit and rest. I call the point Anna's Point and think of her when I walk Mason #02-329 and Molly (aka Bridget) #08-329 and we stop at the point. Anna was our golden girl and we will remember the good times we shared.

Like I promised, a new story about the lovely Ms. Anna. My son calls her Anna Banana…I like it, it's cute. If my son gives a dog a nickname then that means he really likes them. I've heard Anna bark only one time and that was to go out. Her previous family told me that there were a few occasions when someone who wasn't suppose to be in the house was trying to get in and Anna would bark to alarm them. One time, their daughter was having a girl sleepover and some boys tried to crash the sleepover. Anna alerted the parents that something wasn't right. So you could think of Anna as being the teen alarm.
Anna is such a love…but what senior isn't. My Oakley is head over heels in love with her. He's cut back to kissing her every 30 minutes. He's so happy to have another senior in the house that he's just like an 8 week old pup again. Anna doesn't mind my obnoxious boys kissing her. All they do is kiss her they don't rough house with her. I have a feeling she would not care for the rough housing. She is a sweet senior who would rather watch the younger dogs play. Anna will come over and nudge my arm for pets. This morning I asked her if she would like to come to work with me and she grunted…I told her that I was sorry but I couldn't bring her with…but she would be an ideal work buddy if you could.
Best thing about a senior is that they are more sensitive to our needs, they instinctively know when you're having a bad day, are happy to just lay by you and listen to you. If you haven't experienced the love of a senior, you don't know what you're missing. The way I feel about seniors is the same feeling I get when I foster dogs…it's the best feeling in the world.
If Anna gives me permission to tell more of her secrets I will. Otherwise, I will have to sweet talk her with a biscuit. If you're looking for the love of your life…this girl is it. Trust me, we already love her.
