Anna 10-368

Profile

Anna just came in from a Puppy Mill in Iowa so I am just getting to know her but I wanted to get something up on the site for her. In typical fashion for a puppy mill dog all her pictures are close ups right now since she stays very close to me. She is a happy girl constantly wagging her tail but still pretty nervous being in new place. She met my resident dog with no issues. She also met a new surprise friend in the house--she discovered her reflection and she is just enamored. She loves to go back in the bedroom to say hello often! She is very curious already and likes to sniff and take a look around the house regularly.

So far she is eating well and her bodily functions are going as they should and so far she is doing all her business outside. Even though she didn't have a name until yesterday, she seems to also be responding to her name when I call her and she very happily will come. Maybe it's a coincidence but she seems to be sitting on command too! You never know what you are getting with a PM doggie.

Anna is a petite girl who is a little rotund right now, probably around 60+ pounds, but should be less. I'm sure she is recovering from puppyweight, lack of exercise and nutrition, so I expect that to change. Anna just wants to be loved right now while she is settling in.

Since Anna came from a Puppy Mill, in her new home she will require:

1) another confident resident dog
2) a fenced back yard
3) no kids under 10

I will update after her first vet visit coming up soon and after she gets more settled in.

Anna has made huge progress since she was rescued from the puppy mill. It’s fun to watch her become a real dog. Anna bounces around with a lot of energy and curiosity. Everything seems new and exciting to her, from playing with toys to supervising the backyard squirrels.

Training is on Anna’s agenda. She’s fully housebroken, of course. She’s learning how to walk with a Gentle Leader. And she’s learning “sit” and “leave it.” We think Anna will excel in a formal obedience class because she loves getting attention and she has the Golden willingness to please.

Anna is now ready to find her forever family. The ideal home situation, we think, is one where she’s the only dog or lives with an older, calmer dog. An active family would be best for matching Anna’s energy and playfulness. She’s one remarkable Golden.

Hi all, This is Anna's dogsitter for about a week over the holiday,Our home has a cat,Harry, a resident dog Buddy and foster Jackie 10-202, 3 humans myself,my husband and my 10 yr old daughter. I would love to share our experience's with Anna.

She is very!! very!! friendly with humans she loves pets and scratches, she has a good amount of energy and enjoys walks. She is verbal, she grunts and growls when she feels affectionate.  She slept in my daughter room on her dog bed all night, she is a bit timid about jumping in and out of the SUV, but did OK with my Buick, she followed my dogs into the car. She does seem to need some strengthening, But that will come gradually. My husband says shes really smart, she is a quick learner. You only have to tell her a few times and she gets it. She liked to chase my cat, but never tried to hurt him or show any aggression. Did well with my daughter and she is able to handle her on a leash.

Anna and Buddy played outside in open area and had lots of fun in the snow. He's 9 but is puppy at heart. She is a good eater eats all her food. At this time she like to chew when she has penned up energy or nervous, but when given a nylabone eatable she can get it out of her system. I suspect this will go away as she gets more confident in her new surroundings. She loves soft toys and baby's them and collects them into her little pile in my office, where she liked to hang out to get away from the other animals. Anna has a crooked cute smile, that makes her quite unique. She had only 1 pee accident but she felt really bad about it, she hid behind the couch for awhile. I would take her back into home anytime. She has a lot of personality.
