Annabelle 07-490

Profile

Annabelle 07-490 is a 10-month old, spayed purebred golden girl who is full of love and fun!  She was surrendered to RAGOM because her mom loved her, but felt she needed a home where she could get more exercise and attention.  Annabelle is tall and leggy, with medium gold fur with pretty blond highlights.  She rode very nicely in the car for about an hour on the way to her foster home.   The first night in foster care, she was a very good girl and slept all night in her crate without a peep.  On day 2, my husband came back from our cabin with our 2-year old dog Ranger, and BOY did the fun begin once she met Ranger!  They play non-stop.  The energy level in our house has gone up about ten times!!

Annabelle's high points:  crate trained, loves people and dogs, lived with cats and kids previously, happy personality, OK being brushed and handled, gives sweet kisses to all who pet her!!

Annabelle's "areas for improvement"  (and who doesn't have a few of these??!):  she pulls like a sled dog on walks, so I'm trying to get her used to a Gentle Leader.  She came with a harness but I can't quite figure it out (dumb foster mom!).  She is sometimes mouthy when you try to wipe her feet so we are working on that (she is gentle but still not a good habit).  And she is SO excited about having a dog to play with that she just can't leave Ranger alone. So we take periodic time outs to give them both a breather. Granted, she's only been here about 36 hours, so once the initial excitement is over, things may settle down a bit. Even though there are a few things to work on, with her solid temperament and happy personality, I'm confident that she will be able to learn better manners quickly and will be a fabulous companion.

Her vet appointment is Wednesday, Aug 22.  Once everything checks out OK she'll be ready to find her forever home.

I apologize that she looks a little ragged in the photos.  She and Ranger had just completed a session of Wrestle-mania and her ears got a little gooby! If you are an approved applicant, and you've been looking for a young, active, funloving female golden, she is the one for you!  Email placementatragom [dot] org to meet this bundle of fun!

Updates

Just a couple quick updates on Annabelle.   First, she is getting used to her Gentle Leader and it makes a WORLD of difference when I walk her!!  We went for a quick jog in the rain yesterday and she did great.  This morning on our walk she still tried rubbing it off a few times, but as long as we kept moving she did fine.  I can't say enough about what a great tool the Gentle Leader is!!

Second, I made a mistake on the first update.  She didn't live with kids, but she had frequent exposure to the previous owner's grandkids.  Sorry about that.

Here's a new photo with Annabelle in a rare moment of calm relaxation!  Actually, when our dog isn't around, she really is a calm sweet dog.  But when he is around, all she wants to do is play, play, play!
