We are happy to introduce you to Anna 13-027. Anna is about 9 years old and weighs 110 lbs, but she should weigh about 55- 60. Anna came to us a little over a week ago and was very shy and a little scared over the last few days. She has really come out of her shell. She is such a sweet, loving, Velcro dog, and as her personality comes out, she can be quite entertaining.

Anna comes with a few health problems that are being treated but nothing major. She is currently on some antibiotics for an infection, and we are treating her right ear for an infection as well. Her most obvious problem is her weight, and we are working with her diet and exercise. She will be heading back to the vet next week to see how she is doing with her infections, and we hope she has lost a little weight.

Hi, everyone. I am Anna. I just want someone to love me. I miss my mom who got sick and couldn't take care of me anymore. This house they brought me to has 2 cats and a young male dog - what an interesting group. The big cat doesn't seem to mind me, and we pretty much ignore each other. The little cat is crazy, and I like her, just not sure what to do with her yet, so I sniff at her and sometimes bark a little until told, "No barking in the house." The resident dog is young, and I am OK with him but would rather have Foster Mom and Dad all to myself. I like all the butt scratches, ear and belly rubs they give me.

Foster Mom works from home and we go up and down the stairs all day long. It takes me a little while to get up and down the stairs sometimes, but I am doing it and get lots of love for it, so it must be good. I get to play ball also. It is very tiring. I will only play ball every other day because I am so tired. I am breathing a little better since being on the medications and am moving around so much. Foster Mom said it is nice that I am not panting when I am just laying around. Back to Foster Mom. She told me she has more to write.

So, here is some more info about Anna:

  • She rides very well in the car.
  • She walks well on a leash with no pulling.
  • If left off leash (yes, I put the leash on the wrong dog one morning), she will wander away. Fortunately, she is easy to catch.
  • She knows basic commands: wait, sit, come.
  • She likes to be outside.
  • She is happy laying at your feet.

Hi, I’m Anna's FM (Foster Mom). I’ve been contemplating what to say since we got her 4 days ago. I really wanted to tell you that she’s NOT the good dog that she is, and make up all kinds of bad dog behavior. That way I would get to keep her longer! But, that wouldn’t be fair to her at all. And there are more dogs out there that need ME, too. So, here I go, writing the words that will tell you about the best dog on this site.

Anna came to us 4 days ago, weighing in at a hefty 107 pounds. She was down 3! We got her some good food for a dog in her shape, and cut her portions as her earlier FM, Jenifer, had done. We have not had her in to the vet to be weighed yet, but maybe next week.

She’s walking as much as 1½ miles per day on a leash, which she does wonderfully. She treks up and down the stairs of our old home many times a day, keeping up with my scrapbooking upstairs and her FD (Foster Dad)’s activities downstairs. She just wants to be up to date and current at all times! She know several commands: stay, sit, come, as well as bye-bye (her FAVORITE thing to do) and outside. She makes a great foot warmer too.

She has met 5 of our grandkids and loved them all. In fact, when we went to my son’s house, she let the 2 labs (one male, one female) there just smell her as much as they needed, while she searched and sniffed out the house. She finally went upstairs and found my 5-year-old grandson napping. Well, she got him up and down they came! It was okay, he had taken an early nap just to meet her.

She has begun going to bed with us, sleeping on the floor of our room on her blankets. Today, we played fetch with tennis balls. She tromped through the new 8” of snow and buried her head trying to sniff out rabbits. No luck.

She has made a home here, and that’s why I feel I can tell you that she would make ANY home better, just by living in it. It’s a heavy heart writing this update, as my first foster dog with RAGOM will probably be leaving for her FURever home. I just tell myself she will be loved, she will get walks, and she will love you as she does us.
