Annie 20-014

Profile

Annie came to RAGOM to be rehomed when there was a change in her family's circumstances. A quintessential Golden, she craves human attention and will nudge you for more rubs. Annie can live with children over 5, other dogs, and cats. She does well on a long leash, so a physical fence is optional. The most important thing that Annie needs is a forever home where she will receive an abundance of love and attention. Toys to play keep-away with are a bonus.

Annie is blessed to have found a fur-ever family who will show her all the love and attention she deserves. She will get to enjoy time at her fur-ever family's cabin, taking long walks and eating home-cooked meals made just for her. Congratulations to Annie and her new fur-ever family.

Annie is a beautiful 5-year-old (6 in April) Golden Retriever who was surrendered to RAGOM when her family's circumstances recently changed. Annie is microchipped, up to date on shots, scheduled to be spayed, house trained, and crate trained.

Annie has been with her foster family for a over a week and has shown that all she is looking for is love and affection. She will sit patiently in front of her foster mom or dad and soak up the attention she is given, and if she thinks that attention is waning, she will give your hand a gentle nudge. Annie loves to get full body rubs and lets you know this with lots of tail wags.

Annie has adjusted nicely to her foster family’s resident dog and resident cat. She settled right in and has learned that our resident dog is a great playmate outside. She likes to play keep-away with the toys outside, so we make sure to have plenty of balls on hand and she is always open to exchanging a toy for something else. Annie has not had any issues with eating in the same room and taking treats with our resident dog nearby.

Annie enjoys her time outside in her foster family's fenced-in yard. She is excited to see the neighbor's two Huskies when they are in the next yard. Annie does great on the 30-foot leash or off the leash to run around. She enjoys exploring the fence line and all the smells in the snow. She also enjoys rolling around and burying her face in the snow while our resident dog runs circles around her.

Annie was house trained before coming to her new foster home and has done great. She was in a crate as a puppy, so she had to be reintroduced to a crate while her foster mom and dad were at work. She may not love going in, but with some treats to entice her, she does great once inside. She is content to watch the activity or sleep.

She currently sleeps in her foster mom and dad’s bedroom (floor or bed) at night and in her crate while they are at work. No accidents!

Annie does pull while on a leash, so continued work on leash etiquette is needed. We will be trying a Gentle Leader next. Foster Mom believes Annie is a quick learner and it will just take a little time and patience to teach her leash walking etiquette. Her fur-ever mom or dad will need to be willing to work with her on leash walking etiquette and continue to work on other basic commands. She does great with "sit."

Annie went to the vet for her checkup. While there, she was microchipped, brought up to date on her shots, and told she could stand to lose a few pounds (5 – 6). There was also a growth on her gum that was biopsied and came back as negative. We are thankful for a clean bill of health.

Later that same day, Annie was taken to the groomer for a bath, nail trim, grooming, and hair trim. The groomer said Annie did an excellent job and seemed to enjoy her time at the spa.

Annie has not been kid-tested by her foster family, but they were told that Annie did well with children in her previous home.

Foster Mom’s vision for Annie’s fur-ever home is a loving environment filled with lots of affection for this beautiful girl. She truly has a kind soul that she is just waiting to share with others. Children in the home should be 5+ years of age. A resident dog playmate would be great, but that is not a must-have. Annie loves to explore outside. If there isn’t a fenced yard, she does great on a long leash.
