3/29/07: Anubis is a handsome boy.  He is more blonde than the other males, and oh, so handsome.  He will now give soft kisses if you sit down beside him, but is still easily startled.  He is still awaiting a foster home.  Such sweet dogs to have been through so much.

Anubis continues to amaze us every day with his constant progress and increased confidence! He has definitely become comfortable in his new living situation. This boy is such a lover! You would never guess he had a lack of socialization with people. He is all about spending time with us, definitely making up for lost time! As I'm typing this, he's laying next to me with his head in my lap. The other night he let me clean out his ears and brush him, he was so good about it! We'll see how his bath goes this weekend! He has only had one accident this week and we've been working on some training (which has been hard with the resident goldens trying to steal the treats). We've been keeping him in the crate at night so he is crate trained. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful guy staying with us and he'll definitely make a wonderful addition to some lucky family!

Anubis came home with us on Monday night and is adjusting quickly to his new foster home in Ankeny, Iowa. Anubis is just over 3 years old with a birth date of 3/9/04. He is such a sweetheart and loves attention. He is getting along very well with the resident goldens in the house, and really enjoys their company. The ideal home for Anubis would have a canine companion. Not only does he seem comforted by their presence, but he's picking up on how to behave in the house from watching them. His tail doesn't ever seem to stop wagging and he'll come up and lick your hand, almost like he's saying thank you. He loves to play with the toys and shares nicely with the residents. Anubis has started taking treats, but he has to watch the residents eat theirs before he knows what he's supposed to eat them. He loves it when you scratch under his chin (okay, you could pet him anywhere and he'd be THRILLED) and talk to him. He will stay by my side forever as long as I talk to him (He really likes to hear how handsome he is). Anubis is nervous when new people come to visit and will pace around the room for a bit, but he warms up after awhile. I'll update more as we learn even more about this big boy!
