Apollo 08-152

Profile

This handsome guy is Apollo -- a 13 month old purebred Golden, and he does his name sake proud. I guess we all know that the Greek God Apollo spoke his prophecies through the Oracle of Delphi. I am sure her prophecy would have been nothing but great regarding this boy.

He was vetted today and brought up to date on all vaccinations, negative on Heart-worm, fecal, and Lymes. He weighed in at 68 lbs. All the girls at the vet clinic were ga-ga over him. He got lots of hugs and pets from all concerned except for a Little Jack Russell Terrier that barked and growled at him. Apollo just sniffed at him, tried to be friendly, and went about his business of being a care-free young pup looking for attention.

He is a surrender dog from a home that could no longer take care or look after him. He was raised with children and a cat. He was very well taken care of and is a very well adjusted guy. His owners were very sad when he left. He has had basic obedience training, was exercised daily, is house trained, doesn't jump, invisible fence trained, and walks well on a leash. I think you are getting the idea. This is one great dog. He is full of puppy yet and loves to play hard with his resident foster brother and sister. He likes to play rough and tumble with my male, but has learned that the little liver and white dog (springer spaniel) has big teeth and doesn't want to play, or him near her couch or bed. Needless to say he has learned the pack order here and he is at the bottom of the list, the little girl dog being at the top. He has also learned when the big red dog doesn't want to play anymore, then that is it!!! He also has big white teeth.

Apollo is a smart boy and in less than two hours here he learned all he needed on pack order. He has been for three walks in the past twenty four hours, played for several hours, rolled and frolicked in the fresh snow fall, and slept like a baby all night. He has had free run of the house and slept on his bed along side my bed last night. He also is a typical Golden male, he eats like a gentleman and drinks from his water bowl like a slob. I don't know if he gets more water on the floor or in his mouth. My guess is the floor.

There has been a lot of turmoil and change in this young boy's life in the past 24 hours and he is handling it very well. There will be more to follow after he has been with us longer, but from what I have seen so far he is one very well adjusted boy, with a high energy level, needs plenty of exercise, and a brother or sister to play with. He also needs a little brushing up on his obedience, but that shouldn't take much more than a few days. Speaking of which it is almost time for another obedience brush-up. More later along with new photos.

PS: Did I mention he likes to drink from the toilet bowl? (yuk)

PSS: I also forgot to mention he likes to run on the tread mill. Not only is it good for him, it also keeps his toe nails trimmed. Is this guy a wonder dog or what!!!
