Please welcome Asher to the RAGOM village. Asher is a 6 month old, cream/white colored purebred Golden Retriever. His fur looks a lot like an English Cream Golden Retriever with a little bit of curl in it. He is very handsome and extremely soft. I like to call him Marshmallow, not only because he’s so soft, but he is a big cuddler. He loves to be petted and adored and will sit really nicely to soak up all the attention.
Asher recently made a trip to the vet where he was brought up to date on shots and preventatives. He did test positive for hookworms and is being treated for those. He is a big boy at 55 pounds, but the vet thought he would possibly be a smaller adult Golden as he’s already starting to fill out. Asher has not been neutered yet but will be on 11/22. After that, he will be ready to be adopted.
Asher came from a commercial breeder but settled into our house and routine very easily. He is not startled by any noises, even the dreaded vacuum. He did not know how to go down stairs but is learning very quickly. I have two boys, ages 3 and 5, and he loves to play with them, but does have a tendency to jump when excited. He’s gotten much better about this but smaller kids could be knocked over. Asher is about 95% potty trained. He picked up on this really quickly and is starting to signal his need to go outside by standing at the door. I crate Asher at night and when we leave the house, and he willingly goes in and doesn’t make a peep.
He is a fabulous puppy and will make his adoptive family very happy, but it’s important to remember that he is still a puppy and a lot of work! He loves to chew shoes, rugs, kitchen chair rungs and any clothes he happens to find. He will need consistent training and socialization to make him the best puppy he can be.
