Ashley loves being in a house. She is doing great with her potty training. She had only a couple accidents the first two days.  Now, Ashley just waits until we take her outside.  She paws at the door when she wants to go outside to play.  She likes to roll in the grass or lay on the deck.  Ashley is still figuring out how to use the stairs.  She goes down them fine.  In fact, she takes them so fast I'm always afraid she'll stumble and go rolling down the steps.  We are still working on going up the steps.  She can go up three or four steps and then gets tired.  Then she climbs back down and waits patiently for us to carry her up.  She is a determined little dog and I'm sure she will master the stairs soon.  She is not very coordinated yet and her muscles are still weak from being caged her whole life.  Ashley is getting stronger and more agile every day. She walks well on a leash but prefers to not venture far from the house just yet, so she does not require much exercise.

Ashley is kenneled at night and when we are gone.  This is to help with her potty training and also to give her a safe place in a new environment.  I'm sure that eventually she could be left loose in the house.  Ashley is extremely quiet and I have never heard her bark.  She is not destructive, does not counter surf, and stays off the furniture.  She loves other dogs and likes to give them kisses and share her food with them.  But, she does expect them to share their food as well, and is not opposed to taking food right out of the other dogs' mouths.  Ashley doesn't know how to play with the other dogs but will walk right into the middle of their wrestling match.  I'm always afraid she's going to be trampled -- she is so little. Mac 03-146 jumps over her like a hurdle and Ashley can walk right underneath Mac.

Ashley is currently being treated for ear infections.  She also has some dermatitis on her belly which may need monitoring by her forever family.  The stitches from her spay will be removed next week and then she can have a bath.  Ashley came to us a bit smelly.  Actually, she is quite stinky but it's kind of embarrassing for Ashley to admit that.  She is really happy that she will be all cleaned up next week and ready to show off how pretty she is to any families that would like to meet her.

This is what Ashley would like in her forever home:

- No small children, older children would be great

- Cats might be ok, but she's never met one

- Another dog would be fine, especially an older one to hang out with

- A quiet household/neighborhood, a fenced yard if possible

- Some chew bones

- A loving family that would enjoy eating hotdogs with her (her favorite), watching TV (yes, she does watch TV), and sleeping
