6/20/06: This is Aubbie ? one of the four Iowa boys who arrived this week. Aubbie is an intact male about six months old and full of puppiness! He is a gorgeous dark red with wavy hair and has a very sweet disposition. He is underweight at 28 pounds but will be gaining weight now that he?s on a good diet. He?s doing excellent on the potty training. He has been to the vet and is being treated for worms, etc., but that shouldn?t take long. He retrieves any toy that?s thrown ? actually his style is to ?run, run, leap, leap? and then ?pounce? on it - and he always brings it back! Aubbie is an intelligent little pup that will be a great family dog.

What a great dog Aubbie is becoming. Neither the vacuum cleaner, the lawn mower nor the many days of fireworks bothered him at all ! He also met the grandchildren (ages 4, 2-1/2 and 1) this week. He chased the ball, was fed treats, and sat still to pay close attention to the rules of the game! He is learning quickly and is very ready to continue his education. He looks forward to his long walks around the neighborhood. He is in excellent health, is gaining weight and has an appointment to be neutered this week. This sweetie is one intelligent pup!

Aubbie has now been with us almost two weeks. He has adjusted positively to a home environment. A trusting, loving and inquiring puppy, he’s quick to adapt and learn. He picks up commands easily and, needless to say, is quite food oriented. He’s gained some weight (sorely needed) over his initial 28 lbs at the vets. He could stand to gain another 8-10 lbs; however, we like “roly poly” pups. We go back to the vet next week to get the clearance and ok to schedule his neuter. In the meantime we just continue to enjoy having our little red Golden hearted boy develop into an adorable pet. He does well with children (exuberant though!) and other dogs. Loves his walks but not too sure about car rides. Aubbie has lots of love to give and is now ready for his permanent home.
