Updates

We can’t believe that it’s been a year (to the day!) that we adopted Auzi (Ausia 13-339). December 14th, 2013 we drove away from her foster’s home where she’d been so wonderfully taken care of and spent time with cats, the resident dog, and another RAGOM foster. Auzi wasn’t so sure about Santa last year! Who were these two strange people he brought her?!

Fast forward a couple months and she’d graduated from obedience class, but she thought it was silly to spend so much money as she already knew everything. A smart young dog indeed! It took a little adjusting, but Auzi learned that “back yard” = “bathroom” but “basement” does not. She also learned that she doesn’t like a gentle leader, but does like walks, so she stopped pulling quickly!

June 2014 her DNA was analyzed and our “Golden Retriever-mix” turned out to be a “German Shepherd/Collie/Samoyed-mix” but there’s no way we could even ask RAGOM about a return policy (kidding!) The longer this “Golden-at-heart” hangs around, the more we can’t imagine a day without her. She definitely thinks she’s a lap dog. Mom’s parents don’t seem to mind!

One of the most unique things about our Auzi is that she loves bike rides! She doesn’t get on the bike with Dad, but he bikes with her. She runs and runs and runs and never seems to tire out. What would take 2 hours walking takes 25 minutes on the bike and she gets to see a lot more of the neighborhood! People regularly see us walking and ask “are you the ones with the dog that runs with the bikes?!”

Now, a year later, Auzi has found some neighborhood friends including Ozzy (uncanny, right?!) a black lab who lives down the street and Grandpa’s Cockapoo Vinnie. She can be a little to0 playful for other Grandpa’s Brittany Marty, though he’s good for a snuggle. She’s a great companion for Mom when Dad’s traveling for work and makes a wonderful, if lick-y, alarm clock. This year Auzi is just happy that Santa let her keep the people who drove her away so long ago.

Best part? Mom and Dad are getting married and Auzi got to be in the engagement photos!
