Meet Ava !! She is an 11 month old PB golden. What a little beauty, although I don’t think she will stay little much longer. She has big paws that need a body to match.
Ava came to RAGOM because she dug up a flower bed. She hasn’t dug anything up at our house yet. She did get into our closet when we weren’t paying attention to her and she chewed up my Ugg boots. It has been a while since we fostered a young dog and we need to get back into puppy mode. At least she has good taste in shoes : ) As adopters out there reading this we always need to remember that things are things, a dog is a precious life that needs to be loved and nurtured. They go through phases and need to be taught right from wrong. After I dried my tears from losing my favorite boots I got a big slobbery kiss on the face and we are good now.
Ava is a very good dog. She knows her commands (when she wants to). We have a fenced yard at home but she does not have to be tied up at the lake because she stays in the yard. She was trained to an invisible fence. With a little more work on the “come” command, she wouldn’t necessarily need a fenced yard. She is young and has a lot of puppy energy that needs to be burned off each day.
She learned to swim on Sunday. She tried to walk on the water and then she watched our golden to see how it was done. She is still learning to dog paddle and leave her paw in the water. She brings her front paws out of the water and splashes. She loved the water and kept running back in to swim until we made her stop.
She loves to give kisses and if you sit on the floor she will be on top of you. She does still have some of that puppy play bite in her. We are really working on that bad habit because she is getting too big to be play biting. She will lunge at your face sometimes to nip and then she licks. It is not an aggressive bite at all, she is all play. She will take treats gently if you tell her to take nice and you can take a bone right out of her mouth. We are still getting to know her and we are waiting on some records before we can get to the vet. We will update you more when we get to know her better.
