Baby 07-017

Profile

1/20/07: Baby arrived at our house later today. She is 7 months old and is a real sweetie. Baby came into RAGOM because she may need hip surgery and the owner could not afford the treatment. So far she has settled in here pretty well considering all the places she has been the last few days so she could get into RAGOM to be fostered.

Baby is supposed to be housebroken, gets along well with dogs and cats (however she tried to chase my cat, so I am not sure about that one. It may just be this is a new cat to explore), and loves people. We are taking Baby in to the vet tomorrow morning and she will hopefully be staying so she can be spayed on Monday. After that we will get her hip checked out and see what treatment plan will be best for her.

I will try and get some better pictures of her tomorrow outside. The indoor lights don't do her wonderful red color any justice.

Baby and I would like to thank everyone who stopped by PetCo to meet her today. Baby loved all the attention and hasn’t moved a muscle since we got home. We are completely overwhelmed by all the great applicants who expressed an interest in her. We are working closely with the Placement team to find her the very best forever home (a REALLY tough job with such wonderful applicants!).

Baby is doing great. We had her stay with us for a couple of days before going to the vet to get spayed. She is a very sweet puppy with a wonderful Golden disposition. Her tail never stops wagging and she loves to follow you around to see what you are doing. Her curiosity about everything keeps her busy checking things out. Even though she can be very busy with her puppy energy, she is not a hyper dog at all. Baby loves to lie wherever you are and just be with you.

It wasn't long after Baby was here that she totally emptied the dog toy box. We had toys everywhere and it was pretty funny to watch her try to decide which one to play with. She would look around the room at all the toys, and you could tell she just couldn't decide which one she wanted. She loves the squeak toys and throws them around so she can chase them.

We crated Baby the two nights she was here and she did very well. She didn't go in readily, but once she was in and we went to bed, I didn't hear a peep from her until we got up the next morning. Baby comes when she is called, knows how to sit and listens pretty well when you tell her "No". For a puppy of 7 months, I think she does really well.

As you can see from the new photos, she loves the snow. We had her out with the Frisbee and Baby loves to play fetch. She had so much fun running in the snow and sticking her head in it. That's a Golden for you.

Once Baby gets through her spay surgery, we will see what the plan is to fix her hip. She is a very nice girl and will make a great companion.
