Bacon 08-149

Profile

Bacon is a purebred Golden Retriever that is 8 years old and needs to be neutered.  He is completely house trained and has never used a crate before.  Bacon is UTD on his shots and does well around children.  Bacon is supposedly chewing on his paws due to boredom (?) so he has a limp right now.  He looooves people food but is fed a dry food with milk added.  He was taken to the HS but they charged too much to euthanize him, thank goodness for us. He was surrendered because both children at his previous home are gone now and he could not be cared for.

So this is what I know about Bacon after spending travel time with him and vet time and a little home time.  Bacon weighed in at the vet at 92 pounds. The chewing on feet out of boredom – wrong – he is chewing his feet because of phantom pain he is feeling.  We took over 8 x-rays and the orthopedic specialist is going to have to look at them, to see why he won’t put weight on the front right leg.  We will know more later this week so keep watching.  He has two very bad ear infections, matted hair, and needs a bath desperately!  So guess who will be getting a bath today.  Yep Bacon, what a name, I am not sure if he knows his name but we need to get a new one for him.

Bacon is going to hang out with for a short time until we can get him a permanent foster or we find him a home.  So we will be looking for his forever home, do you think you could have a place in your home and heart to love this Sr. boy.  He is the sweetest thing and met everyone without a care, he has been drinking tons of water though and so we really need to figure out that issue.  But he is sound asleep next to Athena and Coal.

So if you are interested in this big beautiful boy let me know and we can meet – it may be a while before he is cleared but he would still like to find his forever family to enjoy for the rest of his life – please contact placementatragom [dot] org if you want to be his new family.

We just had to share our sleeping arrangements with everyone.  Here are the 5 fur kids sleeping in a row.  However we now have Max (06-557) staying with us during the day and sometimes at night.  So we actually have 6 dogs some nights.  I also sent a picture of Sophee and Bacon looking underneath her.  Bacon loves the snow and making snow angles at every available opportunity!

We are still trying to get answers on Bacon, so for now, I am just sending these wonderful pictures.

By the way Bacon will be at Petco on Saturday if you would like to meet him!!!

Bacon loves the snow and has had so much fun outside.  Bacon has convinced us that we should bring Athena with us to Petco so he can have a support system.  I told him that as long as she is feeling up to it, she can come too.

Bacon loves the snow and even though he is in pain, he and Athena went outside and played.  I just hurt so much for him; I wish we could find out what is going on.  I heard maybe Monday we will know.

I so wish I could tell you something for my friend Bacon but I can not.  What I can tell you is we had to up his meds to make him a little more comfortable.  Honestly folks, I have no idea what to expect, I really wanted to get those s-rays read so we could figure out what is wrong.

Bacon is currently one Trimadol and Rymadil.  Trimadol is a pain med so he does not cry all the time now.  Yes, he must be in a lot of pain because he was always moaning when he moved, but now I think we have that under control.

Bacon and I are going to go to Petco on Saturday for an hour or so – I am guessing we will be there from 11 to 12 or maybe a little longer if you would like to meet this very special boy.

Bacon has one nasty habit so far and that is barking at us when he wants attention.  As soon as he does this we walk away from him so he get NO attention for a bad behavior.  He does not appreciate that at all.

Please come out and meet Bacon, he would love to meet the public – he will be the one hoping along.

Bacon’s best friend Athena fell today and I am very worried that we are getting closer and closer to the time and it is moving way to fast.  Bacon and Athena have become inseparable and constantly make sure each other are okay.  Bacon will always let Athena lay down on the blanket and than he will come and get close to her.  It’s like he is protecting her very sore leg, because he knows only to well how badly it hurts.  Bacon and Athena do everything together, take meds together, sleep together, eat together, potty together, they hop along on three legs and every once in a while Bacon will put him food down, but he would rather not.  Oh how I wish the vet would call and tell us something about Bacon and why his leg is hurting him so badly!

Bacon and Athena will even moan at the same time, it is like they are reassuring each other that things will be okay.  Please keep them both in your thoughts and keep your paws crossed for Athena’s best friend Bacon 08-149.

Bacon is looking at the camera and Athena is saying I am too tired to look.
