Please welcome Miss Bailey to RAGOM.  She is a sweet 10 year old purebred golden girl.  She was living just down the road from us and we had no idea that she needed a new home.  Her primary owner sadly passed away several years ago and she has been living outside ever since as the owner's husband works long hours and she was having accidents in the house. 

A bath was the first order of business.  Bailey definitely had that unique aroma that dogs acquire when they live outside.  She wasn't too sure about the bath but she was a good sport and also tolerated the hour of brushing the next day to remove a lot of loose fur. (I think she had enough fur to keep two dogs warm!)  

Bailey has been brought UTD, tested for heart worm and lyme's (both negative) and microchipped.  She was previously spayed.  The vet thinks Bailey might have an old ACL injury and losing 10-15 pounds (currently weighs 78 pounds) will help her health as will supplements to help with arthritis.  She came with a bag of Purina and had been living the sedentary kennel life so a different brand of food enhanced with green beans and carrots will be part of the new meal plan.  Bailey appears to have seasonal allergies,also. 

Bailey gets along great with my two senior resident dogs and she figured out most of the household routine right away.  We are still working on the sleeping through the night part (5:00 am is just a bit early for me).  She most definitely has storm anxiety.  We had a storm a couple of nights ago and if Bailey could have gotten her big body on the bed she would have been under the covers.  I think she panted for the next twelve hours after the storm passed through.

Last, but most certainly not least, Bailey is a big time velcro dog.  She follows me everywhere and when I return home from being gone (she has earned free roam) I have to open the door very cautiously as Bailey has the door barricaded waiting for me.
