Bailey (Howard 09-277)

Profile

Let me introduce you to Howard, aka Bailey. He’s a 10 week old golden retriever mix and 15 pounds. He’s almost crate trained and potty trained. He is such a sweetie, he always wants to cuddle and loves being outside playing with other dogs. He’s fine with cats and loves being active.

He loves his toys and is just adorable but right now he is unadoptable until the vet figures out why he has constant itching. Every night he falls asleep with my daughter in her bed. He is a very easy going, good natured puppy.

Here is the original picture when we first met Kobe (fka Howard)

It truly is a happy ending for The F family. Kobe is an awesome puppy!  He is very attached to Nick and is truly a boy's best friend. He loves walks, boating at the lake, playing with the numerous friends that come over. He has had no accidents in the house, not chewed anything up yet... loves playing catch and sitting outside in the grass. He is very happy to meet new dogs and plays very well with them regardless of size. From day one he has slept through the night, at Nick's side of course. He crates nicely when we need to leave for short periods and is excited to see us when we come home.

We are truly blessed to have Kobe and are enjoying him everyday!!

We now call Howard Bailey all the time. When Bailey went to the vet they all loved him they were going to give him a shot for his itching in case he had mites, but he didn’t scratch the whole vet appointment. They thought it was just dry skin. We got a special shampoo, but he’s still scratching. So we don’t know what’s up. They got got a urine sample also because he’s been having to go potty constantly. They didn’t find anything, but if he’s still going constantly they want to check again. He also got his distemper shot but they didn’t want to do anything else. And he got his heart guard plus and a lot of treats. Even at the end he got to play with another puppy they also put his picture on their board.

He is so special and has been getting more attached to my daughter to when she is in the shower or out of site from him he whimpers.

Were still working on potty training. He’s had about 7 accidents and went poop in our house four times. Also he ways 19 pounds now. He’s growing fast.

I had the pleasure of foster-sitting Howie over the fourth of July weekend and what a doll he is! He's one of the most mellow and easy-going pups I've met. I kept him busy though so I'm sure this helped :) He loves kids! He follows me around, or anyone who spends a significant amount of time with him, but he really attachs himself to children. He doesn't mind them in his face or playing with him.

To keep him busy, we went to the dog park everyday and he loved being with the other dogs! He would chase them and wrestle, but once tuckered out he had no problem being cuddled and carried around. He also liked to konk out in a friend of mine's stool (pic below). He did swim a little bit, but is going to need some practice :) I think that in his forever home, another dog would be good for him as he seemed to watch my dog and find security in having him around. However it's not a necessity.

I also took him to the barn with me. I discovered he has no fear of horses what so ever, could be a good or bad thing, but he didn't chase them. He also doesn't bat an eyelash at cats. However, he likes to chase chickens and birds, who can blame him right? I think he could be taught not to do this, but as of right now, if he sees a bird in his "reach" he will give chase, or if he's bored and you turn your back, he will chase the chickens.

He didn't have one accident in my house! We went outside a lot, but a couple times if we were in the house and he was asleep, he'd wake up and come sit by my feet. I took this as a sign and sure enough he pottied right when we got outside, good boy! He got more action and got to play with my neighbor's Lug (Lab/Pug X) and had a blast with her (pic below). I think he's going to be tall, he's got a long tail, wide rib cage, and a bigger head, but his feet aren't that big. Anyone that adopts this little boy is in for a treat!

Howard is now available and has an appointment for his itching this week.

Howard is now available.

His spirit is really coming out - he loves playing with dogs and has gone to the dog park twice and loved it. He is really something special and now whenever he comes in from outside he usually brings a stick in. He got bigger and more playful. Every day he has been playing soccer with my daughter. And he always is in mischief, whatever he finds on the ground he tries to get. It’s so cute because he loves my daughter’s stuffed animals that she gave to him and they are all on a bottom shelf for him. Every day he gets a different one. I cannot tell you how much he loves other dogs.

He’s really something special. He still has an appointment for his itching so I’ll update on that after he sees the vet.
