Our Barkley had 13 1/2 years on this side of the Rainbow Bridge and we were lucky enough to spend almost 10 of those years with him.

Gentle, dignified "Sir Barkley" (one of his many nicknames) was dubbed "one of the sweetest dogs ever" by many family friends, well, by us too. He loved to socialize with people and could always 'work the paw' to keep the interaction going. He earned his Canine Good Citizen certificate and did some Therapy dog training but was happiest being a family dog. He so enjoyed his yard, luxuriated in rolling in grass or snow, or resting in a cool spot of dirt, and kept busy maintaining a squirrel-free yard! He grew to enjoy cuddling with Brie, the long haired Chihuahua who joined our family last summer. Over the last several weeks the weakness in his legs was significantly worsening and discomfort increasing from disc problems, so we sadly said goodbye here at home on April 2.
