Last Saturday Barkley joined RAGOM and celebrated the first day of the best of his life! His previous family realized they didn't have time for him (or his mom, Kallie 09-184) and contacted RAGOM to find him a new family to love.
Barkley is a 5 year old, neutered boy and one of the biggest Goldens I've ever seen. He's 30 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs 99.8 lbs! Maybe a few pounds overweight but definitely big boned - his arms are as big around as my wrists! Barkley hadn't been to the vet in quite some time but is now microchipped and UTD on all his vaccinations. He passed the heartworm & fecal tests (yippy) but unfortunately didn't study as hard for the Lyme's and anaplasmosis exams. He's now on antibiotics and there's no reason to think he won't make a full recovery. Poor Barkley also has bacterial and yeast infections in both ears which are being treated and I can tell he's feeling better already.
As you can see from his pics, Barkley is a very handsome dog! Anyone else think the blond tuft sticking up on top his head makes him look like a CA surfer-dude? A huge thanks to Kris & Blue Ribbon Grooming for the complimentary 'fluff & buff'! And cuz Barkley is such a gorgeous dog, a secret admirer also donated a brand new collar picked out just for him! Don't think Barkley has ever been treated like such a special dog before but assume he'll happily adjust to life as a pampered RAGOM pooch.
It's been a pretty stressful week what with moving from 'up north' down to the 'burbs -- yikes... there's lots of stuff going on down here, vets, groomers, car rides, new sights, sounds and smells to learn about. But Barkley's been great about everything! I'm amazed at how gentle he is, even with little kids. He gets along fine with resident dog Mini, is good with my cats, has no resource guarding issues, walks OK on a leash even with just a flat collar, likes to carry toys around (but also likes to occassionally de-stuff them), rarely barks, etc. He leans into you for pats and scratches and I think he was trying to purr during an extended brushing session when he first arrived.
Please contact your Placement Advisor if you'd like to meet Barkley. He won't be a foster dog for long as several people he's met have already expressed interest in him -- but luckily for you, don't think they're RAGOM-approved applicants... yet!

Barkley moved in with his new family last week! Bad FM got distracted & forgot to send in his official "Adopted!" updated :(
His new parents already had a great supply of new toys for him & Barkley was enjoying a game of fetch with his favorite stuffie the last time I saw him :)
Hi RAGOM fans! Guess what? I'm "Pending" That's right, my furever family already found me!! They drove from Rochester to Bloomington after work on Monday (were they excited to meet me or what!) and it was love at first wag! A&J thought they wanted a smaller Golden -- until they read about me!
I'm still hangin' out with FM cuz my new humans had to go out of town for a graduation. But that's OK, I can wait a week for the best of my life to begin. And I had waaaay too much fun yesterday cuz FM let me go to doggie day care with Mini! I've never seen such a place before -- WOW! Woof Dah rocks!!! So many doggie butts to sniff... and some pretty cool humans, too Don't think I've ever seen that many fur-butts in one place before, but Jill & Brian both told FM what a nice guy I was! And they all liked the blond streaks on my head, said I'm a pretty stylin' dude! FM's favorite part of a 'Woof Dah day' is...
