Max arrived at our home on Tuesday evening and by Wednesday morning we were pretty sure we weren't going to be able to let this boy go...
After losing our beloved Golden (also a RAGOM boy) back in July we knew our family just wasn't complete without that Golden "spark". We have fostered a few dogs, both Goldens and non-Goldens, since then and figured we would know when the right dog came along. Well, for our family, Max is that right dog. Although we felt an immediate connection to Max that first night the things that sealed the deal for us:
- He enjoys our kids immensely and will follow our daughter from room to room, wanting to be near her or play with her
- The cat that usually takes at least 2 weeks to make an appearance when a new dog comes into the house wandered out on day 2 and rubbed up against Max, who quickly licked her from head-to-toe (our previous Golden was also her bath-giver)
- He has the exact same birthday as our daughter! They'll both turn 4 on April 6
- He is an energetic boy who loves to play but also knows how to have a good snuggle
- He is sweet but rough around the edges and we love that about him...
We are already signed up to start obedience classes later in January and I am sure Max will be a star pupil - he seems to really enjoy learning and wants so badly to please. In time I know that Max will be the perfect Home Visit dog, helping other families find their RAGOM soulmates and I know later this year, when we start fostering again, he'll be a great foster-brother to other RAGOM dogs who are looking for their forever homes.
Max still has to have a little outpatient procedure (neuter) but once that is complete we'll be sending in the official paperwork and adoption fee!
We are so thankful to RAGOM and also to Max's previous family. Rest assured, Max will have a loving forever family with us - we consider ourselves so lucky to have found him - he truly makes our family complete.
