Let’s welcome Bella to RAGOM!  Bella is a 4 year old AKC golden.  She came into RAGOM through no fault of her own, her previous owner could no longer care for her or Breezer 11-086 due to some financial/health difficulties.  He loved these girls and he was all they knew.

When we met transport (THANK YOU) Saturday, the girls (Bella and Breezer 11-086) hopped right into our minivan and Bella made herself at home in the front seat!  She settled right in, met our resident with flying colors.

Bella went to the vet today.  She is spayed, weighs 76lbs, HW neg, UTD and was already microchipped.  She is quite overweight and could lose about 15-20lbs, so we will be working on that.  They did the 4DX and it showed positive for lymes.  This does not mean that she has lymes, it could have meant that she had lymes and now has the antibodies, she is not showing any signs of lymes.  She could also use a dental cleaning with possible extractions.

Bella is great with our kids (3 and 6 yr olds).  He runs up to them with a toy, rolls over for them to pet her.  She loves to be around her humans, loves car rides, walks great on a gentle leader, knows sit, though on her own time, stay, drop, she enjoys being with Breezer 11-086 (who is her aunt), they have played tug-a-war and drink out of the same bowl.  It would be nice if Bella and Breezer 11-086 adopted together, but is not necessary.

Bella is pretty submissive but I can see she is trying to figure out where she belongs and will tell our resident when she has had enough of her puppy play.  She really needs to lose the extra pounds, so she would need a family who will work with her on her weight and take our out for walks.  She will hang out by the table when you eat, however, we are working on having her lay down when we are eating. She is kenneled during the day when we are away.

If you are interested in meeting this lovable dog and adding her to your family, please contact your placement advisor.

Updates

Just a quick update on Bella.  We were so excited because we received an email that a family was interested in this sweet girl.  However, their plans changed and so Bella is still looking for her forever home.  Once you meet her she will steal your heart! I was re-reading some of the information that we received when RAGOM took her in.  I mentioned in my last updated that Bella was somewhat cat tested and did fine.  Of course she did fine because she used to live with a cat.  My apologies for not sharing this sooner.

  • She is a GReat golden!
  • She walks GReat on her gentle leader (pulls a bit on the flat collar)!
  • She listens to commands, when you tell her to go lay down, she does just that!
  • She loves her belly rubs!
  • She loves her stuff animals and carries them around where ever she goes (without destruction!)!
  • She loves to swim!

Spring is here! Are you looking for that golden who would love daily walks and tummy rubs?  Bella is your girl.  She is such a beautiful girl, the pictures do not do her justice!

Has it been a month since we updated you all on Bella?  There have been a few new things since the last posting that we want to share.  Bella continues to be such a sweet girl.  She has settled into our routine and is great with all the chaos that a goes on in our house! When we first introduced Bella, we told you about her bad teeth.  Well, thanks to RAGOM, she was able to get the dental work that she needed.  She had already lost 4 bottom teeth before she came to RAGOM, yet they had to remove 6 more!!  She is doing great and is still able to eat normal kibble, we just had to soften it for the first few days.  The vet also indicated that with the amount of teeth Bella had removed past/present that her tongue may now stick out...but that is not the case.
Bella is great with her commands and recall.  She knows, sit, come, lay down.  She doesn't beg at the table.  Now that the ice is off the lake, Bella is a water dog, she loves to be in the water.  I have a feeling our house is going to smell like wet dog a lot this spring!
She was also somewhat cat tested.  We took her to be groomed and there were a bunch of cats running around, the groomer got Bella out of her crate when I went to pick her up and she did fine with the cats, was very curious but nothing other then a sniff or two.  We also have great news on her weight.  When she came into RAGOM she weighed 76#s.  I am happy to report that as of a few weeks ago, she weighs 68#s!!! She still has a ways to go but it looking and feeling better!  She has a jump in her step when we go for walks and when she does get excited and jumps she actually has air under her! Bella met our friend's dog, a Wheaten Terrier, and did pretty well.  Bella was on leash and did the sniff sniff but didn't get snarly. We usually have Bella in the kennel at night, but wanted to try having her sleep with us on a dog bed in our room.  That didn't last too long, she is a curious girl and couldn't get comfortable.  So she went back to the laundry/mud room, but now has free roam during the night with no destruction and we have a lot of shoes in there! Bella is such a joy to have in our home but she really wants a forever family.  Please let your placement advisor know if you would like to meet this love bug!Left to right - Gretta, Breezer 11-086 and Bella 11-087

Hi y'all, Bella here writing today's update.  If you have been following me, I am good, just waiting for my forever family.  Are you that person/family? FM says that I am a great, sweet girl, funny, quirky and loves to be around people!  I am really good with the kids here in the house, they give me so much attention and I get belly rubs all the time!  I do not require a lot, I am a pretty mellow girl and just go with the flow of things.   Here are the things on my wish list:

  • I think I may like a fence, I would love to just run around, however it is not necessary.
  • I like my walks, I do great on the Gentle Leader or flat collar (just a little pulling at first)
  • I am great with kids, but why wouldn't I be, they love to pet me!
  • FM says I talk when I hear something, though I get distracted easily
  • I just want to be loved!

Please contact your placement advisor if you want to meet me and take me home!

Bella is a funny girl, she wants to be where you are at all times. If she is laying down and hears the slightest movement, she is up and checking it out. Bella is fitting right into our routine. She makes these funny sounds, kind sound like a pig when she finally is relaxed. She is a strong girl right now because of the extra weight she is carrying around. I would say that she can go to a home with kids but they have to be dog savvy kids! My 3 year old handles her just fine, but she is pretty strong willed and independent. Bella doesn't really play with my resident, however, she does like to try and paw at Breezer 11-086. Bella and Breezer 11-086 have been through a lot together!

Come meet this wonderful dog. Again, Bella came into RAGOM with her aunt Breezer 11-086 and it would be great if a family was looking for two dogs, because these two are a perfect match for each other. However, if you want to just add Bella to your family, she will be fine as a single dog or possibly with another dog. Please contact your placement advisor to meet this funny girl.
