Bella Luna (Zelda 11-354)

Profile

Allow me to introduce Zelda to you!!!!   She is a quiet, sweet, little peanut; weighing in at about 33 pounds. Zelda is thought to be 1 year 8 months old or so. She is up to date on all health needs and is very healthy and happy!   Zelda came to RAGOM with another dog---Zeek 11-355.   Zeek is thought to be Zelda’s son.   Zelda came in to RAGOM via Missouri way.   The 2 dogs were found by a good Samaritan and ended up in Minnesota with RAGOM.   I am not sure how much of a retriever Zelda is; she seems more like some kind of spaniel…anyway you look at it she is as sweet as can be AND is awesome size---not too big and not too small---she can nestle on my lap!

Zelda is a bit mellow around new dogs; it takes her a while to get warmed up. When she does warm up she loves to play. She gets along well with my cat, but sometimes she likes to chase the cat.   Calvin, the cat is dog friendly so it works out well.   I think a fenced yard would be best for Zelda.   If she does get out of my fenced area, she will come when you call her after she has had her little run.   Currently she is gated with Zeek in the kitchen while I am at work which can be up to 10 hours.  She has had no accidents during this time.

Zelda does enjoy a good chew and care should be left to not let things lie around!  She loves the marrow bones that I give her; in fact right now she is chewing away.  I think that Zelda would be great with kids.  She has done well with the few that she has met.   I think Zelda would do well with another dog in the home…or she would do well as an only dog.  Her and Zeek play like there is no tomorrow….Maybe you are interested in a set of sweet, lovable, cute doggies???   I think that is a wonderful idea too!   Zelda would fit nicely into a loving home!  I cannot tell you how precious this little dog is!   If you want to meet one of the sweetest little bugs around---contact your placement coordinator and let’s meet!   Here’s a little lick from Zelda!---Smooooochies!

Last fall, “Zelda” and Zeek were found abandoned in MO and rescued by a local group, ”Soft Hearts for Sad Eyes”. The two dogs found their way safely to Minnesota through RAGOM, and both dogs were fostered by Karen H, a RAGOM volunteer.  I decided last Christmas Season that there was no better gift I could give than the gift of a new home to dog who needed one, and I was drawn to Zelda on the website.  When I went to meet her at Karen’s, I fell hard for her beautiful eyes, white coat, and brown freckles across her nose.  It wasn’t long before she moved to her forever home, living with me and her stepsister, Tessa, a rambucuous, playful golden retriever that had previously been part of the breeding program at Helping Paws.  It took them awhile to figure out their relationship, but now often are romping through the house playing together.  Bella (her new name) has blossomed. Her white coat has grown in, she has gained some weight, learned how to retrieve, can’t give enough kisses, and is no longer the hesitant, shy, reticent dog I met last year. We have taken obedience class together, and still working on leash walking and not jumping up.  How glad I am that she found her way to Hopkins and my life.  Who rescued who? And the surprise bonus?  Karen and I hit it off right away too and have become very close friends.  A double success story.
