Belle 09-093

Profile

Tonight, we picked up Belle, Kelli, and Suki.  They are 8 week old female Golden Retriever/Black lab mix puppies, born January 2, 2009.  This initial bio for each one will be identical since we just met them and haven't gotten to know their different personalities yet.  Plus, I can't find identifying marks, so we'll put on colored collars and write more as we get to know them better.  What I can say is that they are all very nice puppies!  Mom is a petite purebred Golden Retriever who we met this evening when we picked up the pups.  Dad is the black lab from across the street.  The family that owns the mom and raised the puppies for the first 8 weeks have six children (five boys and one girl).  The children have been handling, playing with, and socializing the pups since birth.  This is wonderful since it means that the pups are more likely to be good with children as they grow into adult dogs.  They all had baths this evening and were very good in the tub.  Some puppies we've had jump and try to escape from the tub.  Not these girls - they were all very mellow and laid there quietly while I lathered them up and rinsed them off.  Great bunch of puppies!  The pups will be going to the vet this week to get their first set of puppy shots and will then be available for adoption.

I've been fostering for a long time and have learned that any puppy that is adopted and taken to puppy kindergarten and put through a couple levels of obedience training (positive motivation only) can become a loving, self-confident, and happy family dog.  If you think you might enjoy taking your pup to training and would like to adopt one of these great puppies, please e-mail your placement advisor or, if you are not yet an approved applicant, complete an application to begin RAGOM's adoption process.

Belle is so adorable.  It's so hard to get the correct lighting to show off her good looks and at the same time, get her to hold still.  I think from these pictures you can get a better idea of what she looks like.  She went to the RAGOM event last weekend and was quite the hit.  I had very tired puppies at the end of the day.  We didn't venture to the Rochester event today because instead I wanted to work on getting some pictures on the website of the pups and it is finally warmer and the sun is out.  They ran and played for about 1/2 hour and are now napping.  All three puppies are very friendly, happy furkids.

Belle is a little more outgoing and is always where the action is.  All puppies learned how to climb over the babygate this week and one of the little stinkers chewed through my mouse cord, so they have now graduated to a large kennel and have begun their crate training.  Belle is very ready to start going places, meeting people and finding her forever home.
