Bernie 08-119

Profile

Bernie arrived in his new foster home in Cedar Rapids, IA just in time to beat the latest ice and snowstorm.  He rode very well in the car and didn't make a peep.

Bernie is a BIG boy, weighing in at 87 pounds.  He has a large blocky head and big frame.  His fur is a beautiful dark red color and is thick with a lot of curl in it.  He has gorgeous rear feathering and a plumy tail.  Foster dad says he was a great boy at the vets today where he got the once over (in excellent health) and was micro-chipped.  The vet said he could stand to lose a few pounds - well, couldn't we all??  He has already been neutered.  Foster dad says he reminds him of the cartoon Howard Huge and is nicknaming him Howie.

Bernie is quite calm for a 14 mo. old dog.  He knows how to sit and is already walking on the gentle leader.  He was surrendered because of anxiety problems but so far, we haven't seen signs of it.  But, he hasn't been alone here yet and has golden foster sis Maren and her sidekick, Yosi the shih tzu for company.

Bernie spent his first night here sleeping on the floor in our bedroom.  He whined a few times (I think he wanted to come up on the bed!! ) and then settled down.  He is totally housebroken.

If you are looking for a young, big, dark red male golden, Bernie may be the fellow for you.  We will update regularly with new information as we get to know him.

Bernie has been adopted!!!  Elizabeth and Neale came all the way from Minnesota to meet him and it was a great match.  He will have a new mom who works from home, lots of new toys and all the love and attention he could ever want, plus daily walks on the nearby walking trail.  Congratulations to Bernie and his new family!!
