Biscuit here! I am so thrilled to announce that I have my very own new mom and dad and a cat named Boots, too! I’m not so sure about Boots yet, because she thinks she owns the place or something. But I love my mom and dad very much, and I can tell they love me, too. (For starters, they let me sit on the couch and on their laps, and that is something I very much like to do!)
They are home most of the day with me so I don’t get lonely, and I have my very own fenced yard where I can sniff to my heart’s delight. I also have “grandkids” and they played ball over and over again with me this past weekend. That was the most fun I’ve had in a very long time! I sure hope they come again soon, but I need to rest a bit more before that happens again.
Though I miss my foster parents and Buddy, I’m settling in very well, and it’s the best feeling in the world to know that I’ve found my forever home. Foster mom said she never lets a dog go until she finds the perfect forever home, and that’s what she found for me. I’m now part of the “D” family and will be loved for the rest of my life.

Biscuit is a beautiful little 8-year-old Golden Retriever mix who weighs about 50 pounds. She is spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on her immunizations and preventatives. She is currently being treated for infections in both ears and has been taking Benadryl for possible allergies. Otherwise her bloodwork is perfect, and she has no other health issues.
Biscuit is total cuddle-bug and loves her people. She is completely house-trained and lets us know she needs to go outside by either going to the door or whimpering softly. She sleeps perfectly through the night on a dog bed right next to our bed, although she would probably hop up on the bed in an instant if invited.
She has a decent level of energy and gets extremely excited for walks, although walking nicely on a leash is still a work in progress with her. I’m not sure if she was leash walked in the past, and we will be trying a harness and/or a Gentle Leader in the very near future to see if we can get more control over her pulling and zig-zagging.
Like most older dogs she totally knows how to relax when she is back inside. I work from home, and she helps me "work" by either sitting directly under my feet to keep them warm or snoozing on the nearby couch. She also has a favorite toy, and her little green ball is never far from her.
Little Biscuit does have one issue in that she is reactive to dogs she does not know. She gets along great with our resident Golden, Buddy, but it took some time, patience, and careful use of crate time and tethering to make that happen. (It also helps that Buddy is the most laid-back, nonthreatening dog imaginable).
Biscuit came into our care after her lifelong owner died in the past year. She was taken in by relatives who have a pit bull mix, and unfortunately that dog played too rough with her and on at least one occasion, grabbed her around the neck. She was never the same after that, and her surrendering owner lovingly gave her to RAGOM, knowing that Biscuit deserved a better life.
I think this helps to explain why Biscuit is fearful of other dogs, and this will play a huge role in finding her the perfect forever home. I know she can live well with another dog, once she knows she is safe. But I also think she would be just fine in a home without another dog, as she is very focused on her people.
Even if there is not another dog in the home, care will need to be taken when Biscuit might be exposed to other dogs, such as when she is being walked, so that she knows she has nothing to fear. In regards to a physical fence, we do not have one, and I think she will be fine without one as long as there is a solid plan to keep her safe.
We have come to love our little Biscuit very much, and like all of our foster dogs, she will be very hard to let go. But I know there is the perfect family out there just for her. Please check back for updates as Biscuit's story continues!
