Neutering is officially no longer slowing this busy boy down. This morning we were trying to multi-task with some play and work in our yard -- but Tanner is pretty sure that all leaves are better if they are raked at least twice. He had a grand old time tossing his tennis ball around in our neatly raked leaves. He actually does a great job in general of entertaining himself with his toys. We also had a friend's dog over for a little doggy play date - he had a blast playing with the visiting dog.
We are also getting a better feel for how Tanner would handle a forever home with cats. We have two cats -- one cat has allowed him to get close enough to check her out, the other one has not. Tanner leaves the friendly one alone, but he will still chase the other one. I think he will be fine once he gets a good look (and sniff) at her.
We have been crating him while we are gone during the day. He crates pretty well and quiets down after the first minute or so. Everytime we come home he has maneuvered himself underneath his bed in the crate. At night he sleeps on the floor next to our bed. When we are home he shows no interest in chewing inappropriate items or causing other problems, so we will start experimenting with more freedom when we are out of the house.
Unfortunately we did find out that Tanner has some hookworms. He is on medication and they should be ou tof his system in a few weeks - the remainder of his treatment (a few pills) can be easily handled in a forever home and shouldn't slow down his adoption.
