Bodie 11-015

Profile

Hi everyone, my name is Bodie and I am so happy to announce that I am safe and sound from recently being rescued from a puppy mill in North Dakota.  I am learning that it's GREAT to be a RAGOM dog:-)
I arrived at my temporary foster home this past Sunday and I was very scared and sad to leave my girlfriend Lexi and my pups, Maddie and Toni.  To my surprise, my temporary foster home has two beautiful golden girls.  I was so happy to meet my NEW girlfriends Jayden and Maggie!  I think they like me too because they give me kisses on my head.  I met them with no problem although when I spend too much time sniffing their butts, they let me know and I quickly stop at their request because I'm such a gentleman.  I didn't know what toys were when I first got here but I found out that I really like them.  I am even playing tug with the girls!  See, I told you they like me!!

I weighed in at 74 pounds and I'm all up to date with vaccinations and the doctors LOVE my curly coat.  Although my heartworm test came back negative, my fecal tested positive for roundworms so I have to take some medicine that will clear them up.  I also have a yeast infection in both ears so FM has to put drops in them each day.  Other than that I'm doing great, health-wise. I had an operation last Thursday so FM says I won't be fathering anymore kids.  I am in my new foster home and I like all of the dogs here. They play with me and I like to run out in the snow. Inside, I follow FM around wherever she goes. She says I will need a forever home with another big dog and no kids under 10. I am skittish and I would just hide in a corner. I need a physical fence too so I don't run off if I get spooked by something.

Please think about adopting me - be sure to read my next update.

Bodie is a lucky boy and settling into his forever home! We miss you Bodie! It is so much quieter here without you.

Ollie (today's name choice) is just fine.  He settled in quickly -- within a couple of hours he felt comfortable enough to curl up in MY chair.  He is getting along great with the cats and with my boy, Gyll.  As you can see from the attached picture, he isn't bold enough to fight Phineas for the dog bed.  That might be why he took my chair. :)

We've been out on walks.  I notice he isn't comfortable enough to spend much time sniffing around, but he settles down after we've been walking a bit.  We went on our first outing to the feed store tonight.  The toughest part was getting him in to the car.  He was skeptical about being in the store, but then he met the resident lab and lightened up.  He liked shopping for toys and chews.
His biggest issue is coming in from outside.  He doesn't like the door from outside into the breezeway.  If he's following Gyll inside it's okay.  If Gyll is already inside, I need to prop the door open and move away so he can come in on his own time.
I heard him bark for the first time this evening!  He and Gyll were chasing each other through the back yard and Bodie/Ollie started barking very playfully.  It was good to hear him speak.

Bodie is doing awesome! He is a sweet boy, a lover not a fighter. He wants to play with the dogs but is not crazy hyper about it which is very nice in a young dog. He also walks nice on a leash--flat collar. Seems like a lot of dogs that haven't spent much time on a leash wander all around your legs. Not Bodie! He follows the lead of the other dogs and walks beside or behind me. He was quite nervous at all the passing cars on the busy road nearby but acclimated quickly.

Today I had the suitcase out preparing for a trip and he was quite uncertain about it until he got a chance to sniff it. He is also curious about the images on the TV. So fun to see him learning about his new world! The boy next door was over again the other day and this time Bodie was much less nervous and was comfortable being handled by him.

If you'd like to meet this handsome boy, come on up to the Canine Crossing in Ham Lake on Saturday.

Bodie is much more comfortable here in week two of his new life. He has learned our routines and the normal noises of our home. So he is not so skittish. He also lets me approach him now but still prefers I turn my back when he comes in the door. Facing him front on is threatening and scary to him, so he will dart away. Despite this, Bodie is a velcro dog! Yes, he follows me like a little duckling follows it's momma. Sometimes so close that he nudges into the backs of my legs. I think this will abate as he relaxes more. He did meet a female that didn't like his attention and he understood her signals and left her alone. He is a lover not a fighter!

Bodie loves all of my dogs! He is athletic and playful. Bodie likes nothing better than plowing through the deep snow to play chase. The deeper the snow, the better for Bodie. He met my friend Jill's RAGOM boy Toby today and it was game on! The nice part is, he isn't a bit rambunctious in the house :) You have to admit he is a gorgeous boy!

Bodie is fully housetrained and has not tried to mark in the house. He is crated while I am at work. He gets a break midday when my dog walker comes but has gone a normal work day crated without issue. I have left him out with the rest of the dogs for a couple of hours without incident too. At night, he sleeps in the bedroom with the rest of us. He is not crated but I always gate us all in.

Bodie would like to send puppy kisses to all of his offspring that have been fighting for their lives the past two weeks. He is thankful to be out of his previous living situation and not to have contracted the Parvo virus :(

Fight on Lwood, Kitra, Rona, Hank, Pacelle and Ardis! We are all pulling for you.

Ain't I handsome?

Seriously? Settle down, youngster!
