Boom (Winter 02-036)

Profile

After a long trip from Iowa on Sunday, Winter arrived at our home. He is a Golden/yellow lab mix and is absolutely adorable. He is 11 weeks old, has had his first set of puppy shots and has gone from being an outdoor farm puppy to a spoiled rotten inside puppy (and liking it that way) in two days. He hops all over and is full of chewing energy. When he is tired from that he will let us pick him up and he cuddles in a little ball and makes little grunting noises. He was really cute when he was carrying around a shoe almost as big as he is. We are working on potty training and he has already learned to climb stairs. He is a very sweet baby.

Hello,

I am writing to pass on the very sad news that we helped our dear family member, Boom (Winter) to the Rainbow Bridge last Saturday. We adopted Boom in February of 2002. He was with us for too short a time - I could not have imagined that we would have lost him so soon and I would be writing to RAGOM to share this sad news.

He was the most loyal of companions. He protected his kids and home tirelessly. He watched his kids grow up and welcomed a new baby like a gentleman. He loved to sleep in (just like his mom). He returned the tennis ball every time, always ready for another toss. And he had the courtesy to not slobber all over the ball (his sister could take some lessons). I don't know how he did it. He sipped his water and never splashed it all over the floor. He ate his food one piece at a time. He was so well behaved, he would not even get on the furniture when asked, begged even. But, the older he got we did find him on the couch in the middle of the night when no one was watching. He loved peanut butter, Frosty Paws, tennis balls, frisbees, and sleeping in the sun. He hated getting his feet wet. He had the sweetest amber eyes, brown nose and the silkiest ears. I could pet them over and over.

He was an athletic, muscular, healthy boy - he had a big broad chest I loved to hug. To watch him get sick was so hard, though we could not have expected them to find a large tumor.

I still can't believe he is gone. I know we will meet again some day. But until then I will miss him like crazy.

Thank you, RAGOM, for introducing us to this most amazing dog. He was one in a million.

Sincerely,
Anne, John, Sarah, Ben and Maggie
