Hi there! Let me introduce to you the handsome Boomer 13-178. Boomer was surrendered to RAGOM because his owner just didn't have the time for him any longer.

Boomer is 8 years old and was owned by his original owners since he was a puppy. He is a reddish Golden Retriever with a thick and somewhat curly coat. He loves to be groomed! He is good for ear cleaning. Boomer was an outside dog all of his life and has transitioned into being inside and let out for potty breaks just great. He is housebroken. Boomer has free roam of the house all day while we are at work with absolutely no problems. We have a two-year-old Golden ourselves and they get along great! I also have two cats which he completely ignores..

He is a very loving dog. Boomer greets you in the morning with a quiet bark, and when we get home from work, he gets all wiggly as he is so happy to see you. It's pretty cute! He is a Velcro dog and wants to be with you at all times. As I type this, Boomer is laying at my feet! He gets lots of attention and very much love from my husband and I, and gives it right back to us. Boomer is not a barker outside in our yard when he sees another dog or people walking by. He doesn't get onto the couch without being invited. He takes treats gently. He loves his Nylabones. That is the only thing he chews on. He is not a counter surfer. Doesn't get into the garbage. He doesn't resource guard. Walks on a leash with no pulling. I really can't find anything wrong with Boomer. He is just what a Golden Retriever should be. Loving and gentle and loves tennis balls which is typical for a Golden!

Boomer is neutered, and thanks to RAGOM, he has had all of his vaccinations and is microchipped. Boomer does have heartworm disease and is going through the protocol which is recommended by the American Heartworm Society at this time. He is handling the treatment well and shows no outward sign of the disease. He eats and drinks great! I will keep you updated as to his status.

If you would like to make at donation to RAGOM to help defray some of his vet bills, as treating heartworm disease is very expensive, that would be awesome! We appreciate it so very much! Thank you!

Updates

Friday, December 6, 2013

Hi there! An update on Boomer for you! He is doing absolutely great! He got his last set of shots for his heartworm treatment and is being kept quiet while these nasty heartworms dissolve in his system. Boomer had no adverse reactions at all to the Immiticide shots. He goes in around the 23rd of December for a microfilaria test to check for baby heartworms and then in six months goes in for a final heartworm test. If Boomer tests negative for microfilaria in a couple of weeks, then he will be available for adoption! =)

Boomer has lost another 10 lbs and continues to look fabulous! He is 8 lbs away from his goal of 70 lbs. He is eating and drinking well and loves his Nylabone! He is a very good patient. The vet said she had never met such a gentleman. He does have the patience of a Saint. He is the epitome of what a Golden should be. Sweet, loving, kind, affectionate. He wants to be with his peeps. He is always at my side. I give him the love and if I quit, I get a paw in my lap and he looks at me with those adoring eyes saying, "Please, Foster Mom, can I have some more?" And of course, he gets it. <3

He gets along with our resident Kirby just great! Doesn't care about cats at all. So he would be fine in a multi-dog home, or a home with cats, or all of the above. So if you are interested in the Boomer man, please get ahold of placement. He is waiting for his forever home!

Thank you for reading about the fantabulous Boomer! We appreciate it!

Hi All! An update on Boomer here for you. Still doing great and tolerating his heart worm treatment well. He goes in on Tuesday, 11-19-13 for his second & third Immiticide shots for his heartworm treatment. He is still happy, bright and continues to loose weight. He is looking quite svelte! =)  He will get weighed on Tuesday so we will see how much more weight he has lost. You can tell he just feels so much better. He has a bounce in his step. =) Boomer is taking it quite easy now and is the perfect patient!
As I type this he is laying at my feet. He is a velcro dog and just loves being with his peeps. I go to another room, he comes with and lays at my feet. He is just the most loving dog. When he wants attention, he will sit in front of you and you get a paw in your lap. Its pretty darned cute. Then of course you can't help yourself but to give this guy love. He is very easy to love and returns it tenfold.
When we come down in the morning to go potty and give him his breakfast you will get a Woo Woo. Now that is cute! He is so happy to see you! Nothing like a big red golden retriever to greet you first thing and his talking is just for you!
Boomer is just an awesome dog. Again the perfect patient for his heartworm treatment. I will update you once he gets his Immiticide shots and let you know how he is doing. He is waiting for that forever home and be your best loving friend!
Thank you for taking the time to read about Boomer!

Hi again folks! Boomer's foster mom here! Boomer is still doing just great even tho he had his first shot of Imiticide to treat his heartworm last week. He was pretty mellow and sore in the back where they give the injection when I brought him home from the vet. The next day he was back to his normal happy self. =) In 30 days he goes back for two Imiticide shots given 24 hours apart. He is being kept very quiet with lots of rest as the heartworms dissolve in his system. Boomer is pretty much a rug. So all is well with him in the taking it easy area.

Boomer has lost another 3 lbs! So a total of 23 lbs he has lost with another 17 lbs to go. He looks fantastic! The vet commented that you can even start to feel his ribs, how good he looks and to keep on doing what we are doing. Here is a pic of Boomer with our resident dog, Kirby. They are fast friends and lay around with each other. Sorry for the spooky eyes. Darn camera... Boomer is just great with another dog. Very tolerant of Kirby who is two years old and still acts like a puppy. Even with the heartworm treatment Kirby leaves Boomer alone. Its like he knows that Boomer must rest. Kirby just hangs out with Boomer and they nap and chew on their Nylabones together. Boomer is quite a fan of Nylabones! He and Kirby get along fine and there is no resource guarding over the bones or anything else for that matter. Boomer loves his low fat treats! Every evening he and Kirby get one and they just sit and look at me and wag their tails and perk up their ears waiting with anticipation. Its pretty sweet! Well thats all for now. Will do another update soon and let you know how the sweet wonderful Boomer is doing. Thank you for taking the time to read about Boomer!

Hi Folks! Boomer is doing just great! Still a kind, lovable and gentle soul. He is laying at my feet once again! He sure does love being with you. If you want a velcro dog, this is your guy! Found out he doesn't like vacuum cleaners. He will head out to another room quickly and stay put until you are done. Not too much of a fan of thunderstorms. He will just stay as close to you as he can. Those are about the only things that I can find that he doesn't like. He does know how to sit, lay down and shake. Working on stay yet. He is great for car rides and gets all excited to go! He lays down and just relaxes in the back seat. Very much a gentleman in the car.He takes treats from you very gently. He gets low fat treats as we are still working on taking weight off of him. He is looking fantastic! Boomer gets brushed every few days as he does have a thick coat. He loves being brushed! He has figured out it is ok to lay on the couch with his foster dad and get some lovin as you can tell from the picture. But he is not pushy about it. Boomer will be heading to the vet next week for another round of treatment for his heart worm. He still continues to do well even tho he has the disease. Eats great, shiny coat, bright eyes, beautiful personality. Thank you to RAGOM for making sure that Boomer is getting the veterinary help that he needs so he will be 100%. If you would like to contribute to help pay Boomer's vet bill, that would be awesome and we would appreciate it so much and Thank You! Also Thank You for taking the time to read about the fantastic Boomer and will have another update for you soon!

Hi All! An update on Boomer 13-178 for you! Boomer continues to blossom in our care. He is such a gentle loving soul. Each day with him is a treasure! He definately likes to lay at your feet and keep them warm. =)  What a great foot warmer for the winter!

Boomer's health continues to be great! Even with the heartworm treatments he is receiving he is handling it well. We keep him quiet so it doesn't affect him at all. When we received him into our home he was 40 lbs. overweight! He has lost 20 lbs and looks and feels much better. When he was carrying all the extra weight he was lethargic and depressed. Boomer is a different dog now with the weight loss. He used to be as round as he was tall. The 20 lb. weight loss has been a such a wonderful thing for his health and he will continue to be on a diet until he has lost another 20 lbs. Boomer will then be at his ideal weight. His coat is shiny and soft. Eyes bright. Big tail wags. He is awesome for ear cleanings. He doesn't like it much but sits like the good boy he is and lets you clean them with no issue.

He loves tennis balls and his tennis bone. The bone is made out of the same material as tennis balls. You can see from the picture how happy he is to bring it to you! He will follow you room to room as he loves to be with his people. He still lays at my feet. I can't say enough good things about this boy! I don't know if there is a perfect golden out there, but he is just a great big love bug. If you are petting him and quit he then will present his paw on your lap saying "Please don't stop, I want some more lovin!". He does the typical golden nudge. You might be sitting watching tv, reading, having conversation with a family member or friend and you get a red golden head under your arm looking for the love!
Boomer continues to do well being an inside dog and loves warmth of a home. I really feel he loves being inside and being with his foster Mom & Dad, our resident golden Kirby and our two cats, Emily & Moe. Our cats love to groom Boomer. He lays there and just lets them. Its pretty sweet! Still no issues with him having free roam. No need to kennel him. You get home from work after a long day and seeing Boomer all wiggly and woo woo woo at you sure makes you forget your troubles and want to give this beautiful golden some love!
Thanks for taking the time to read about "Boom Boom" as he is affectionately called. Will give another update about this wonderful boy soon!
