Well, Brady had his little birthday party and had a special treat for his special day.  He is still very much a puppy.  We have trusted him with free roam when we leave, but I am thinking he may need to go back to his crate.  The past couple of times that he was left alone (for about 2-3 hours), he has been into a little trouble.  He got the vacuum attachment that was left on the table and chewed that up.  He got into some papers, and some treats in a baggy that were up on the counter (treats nowhere to be found, hmmm.).  Although last Friday, we were gone for about 7 hours and he was an angel, go figure.  So until he can prove himself trustworthy again, he'll be bunking in his crate when we leave.

Brady went into the vet because he had very loose stools, and it was found that he has clostridia, which is too much "bad" bacteria in the intestine.  He is on 3 pills a day for 10 days, and hopefully it clears up soon.

Brady will be at the Forest Lake Chuck and Don's on Saturday.  I will be gone all day, so a very nice foster will be overnighting him and bringing him to the event.  Thanks again guys!

Brady did great at PetCo, I think it helped him get over his shyness with new people.  He met a lot of great people and did well with all of the other dogs.  Brady also made it through the holidays just great.  He behaved at Foster Grandma's and Grandpa's.  He met my family and got along just fine with everyone, even the little kids.

He has gained a bit of weight, and looks much better.  He is also eating much slower now too.

He is a very obedient boy if you catch him before the act.  He listens very well to "leave it" when he wants to eat the other dog's food.  He also sits before the door so I can clip the tie out to him and then sits again before he comes in so I can unhook it.  I believe he would shine in obedience class.  We are still working with his "slap happy" paws.  They are always flying through the air.  He follows me around all the time.  He follows so close that he steps on the back of my slippers and I come to a screeching halt!  He has escaped out the door to the backyard and ran around and played with one of my resident dogs.  They raced each other and had great fun.  He did come running back in with a bribe of a treat.  Brady LOVES to play fetch with a tennis ball, but also likes to shred it to pieces when he isn't running after it!

Brady will be one year old on January 1st.  I plan to make him a special treat.

Brady continues to do well at our house. He is a big snuggle bunny. I should mention that he is 1/2 Golden Retriever and 1/2 Labrador Retriever. He has done well with free roam at night, and during the day, he is never in his crate as I work from home. We sometimes do put him in his crate at night, as he can get restless and wakes us up. He goes in without a problem. I would like to see him go to a home where there is someone home most of the day, as he has energy that he needs to burn, and would most likely get into trouble if left alone for a long time. He has a history of eating things that he shouldn't. We currently are missing half of a NylaBone and we are watching him to see if it is in his tummy. I didn't think a dog could chew through half of it in so quick a time, but he must have strong jaws. He is still a puppy, so needs to be taught what to chew and what not to chew (and watched when he IS chewing something that is for him so he doesn't EAT it!). He still doesn't bark much, which is nice when the doorbell rings, and it's just our two residents barking their heads off.

Also, on his surrender form, it states that he jumps fences, so someone that is committed to training him to stay in the yard, or put him on a tie out would be best. We let him out on a tie out, he does his business and comes right back in.

In one of the pictures, you can see him on "squirrel patrol" with one of his cat buddies. When a squirrel shows up, he goes nuts wanting to get out and chase it. When the squirrel runs away from all the noise (my dogs barking), Brady will jump back up on the chair and continue his watch.

If you would like to meet Brady and get some lovin' for yourself, come see us at the PetCo event in Maple Grove this Saturday from 11-2.

Fredrick (now known as Brady) is back in the caring arms of RAGOM due to unexpected physical and financial troubles. Brady is now 11 months old. He arrived very scared and cowering, but within 10 minutes he was bouncing all over. He seems to be very afraid of strangers, but does warm up once they pat him up a bit. He weighs 57 pounds and was just neutered yesterday (cried like a baby on my lap all the way home --and he's not small!). He is housetrained, loves our kids and plays with the other dogs and cats. I've only heard him bark once, when I had put him in his crate and I went upstairs for a minute. He can be very energetic, but does calm down after a bit. He is very sweet and loves to cuddle. He eats like his food is going out of style, so I have put it in a muffin tin, which doesn't slow him down too much. I'll have to work on slowing him down, as it is not good for him when he eats so fast. If you would like to meet this sweetie, please contact your placement advisor at placementatragom [dot] org!
