Well HELLO everyone!  I’m Brandi!!!  And I’m so HAPPY to be a RAGOM Girl!!!  My family lost their home to a fire and had to surrender me to a shelter.  I was at the shelter for about 3 weeks and became very sad, but then a MIRACLE happened. RAGOM found me and two nice ladies helped transport me all the way to Hugo, MN where I met my awesome foster family!  They give me so much love and attention, and I give them lots of licks to show them how thankful I am!  I have 3 foster fur-butt siblings and 1 human sister that I ADORE!  I love everyone I meet and I get along great with other doggies too!  My foster family even gave me free roam of the house and I have been the perfect house guest—no accidents or incidents.  Well--what do you expect from a Senior doggie---we are the PERFECT companion!!!

As you can see, I am a Golden Retriever mixed with some fluffy adorable dog!  Yes—I am a “tad” overweight—but we just signed up for Weight Watchers (whatever that is?) and Foster Mom has me working out daily—which I LOVE!  We even went to the vet for a check up, and I’m totally up-to-date on my shots, and all my blood work came back EXCELLENT! The doc was a little puzzled with my weight because just last year—prior to my spay—I weighed in at only 76lbs and this week I weighed in at 95lbs.  Well—a stressful year might do that to anyone so let’s put the past behind us and look forward to a “lighter” future!  The doc said 70-75lbs is most likely a good weight for me and I should have no problem shedding about 2 lbs. a week with a good diet and lots of exercise.  I say, “Bring it ON!”  Who knows…maybe I will get to be the next Biggest Loser!  HA!

Ohh...before I forget…I want everyone to know it’s my 10th Birthday next month!!!  It’s a BIG Birthday for a BIG girl and so I’m thinking a BIG present might be in order….say maybe a forever family or companion???  Foster Dad says I’m the best present anyone could ever recieve, so maybe that would be a good 2-fer!  He says I’m a wonderful doggie and of course I will have to agree!  If you think you might be the present I’m wishing for please contact your placement advisor.

It’s time to go play ball.   Until next time…love & licks…

Hello Brandi FANS!!!

We had the PLEASURE of dog-sitting our 1st RAGOM foster dog Brandi 10-127 over the Christmas holiday! What a blessing it was to have her in our home again!

This girl is so incredibly special and it just reminded us AGAIN of why we do what we do in this crazy foster world! Brandi was welcomed into a wonderful family this past summer and she is a true reflection of their love and care! She is soooo happy, playful and HEALTHY! IF you remember…Brandi came into RAGOM weighing over 100# and she is now at a healthy weight in the mid seventies. Brandi has so much energy—you’d never guess her to be 10 ½ years old. She played non-stop at our home for days and I imagine she is catching up on some well-deserved rest…or knowing Brandi….she’s still fetching her ball!

Brandi’s family may be back looking to RAGOM to add another furry family member in the spring….YEAH! We’ve been keeping an eye out for them J

Enjoy the new photos of Sweet Brandi in her element! She loves to throw the ball in the snow and dig for it---she can entertain herself of hours!

I’ve LOST 5 whole POUNDS!!!That’s 2 ½ lbs. from each side!

Look at THIS HOUR-GLASS I'm starting to sport!

Brandi

So that’s 5 down and 15 to go to return to last year’s weight of 75 lbs…anyone doubt I’m gonna do this?  FM is so proud of me and I can feel the difference already! YEAH!

Today we went to visit FM’s Grandma in the nursing home.  Boy, was I a hit!

Brandi

While Grandma was in for therapy, FM and I made the rounds to spread some lovin’ around.  I had a total BLAST!

BramdoBrandiBrandiBrandi

Everyone said I was a wonderful doggie, and that I’m going to make some lucky family VERY HAPPY!  That made me feel really good because I have so much love to give, I can’t wait to share it with my forever family!

Well, I gotta run because my 2-legged foster sister is having a big party with all her friends tonight---OHH…I’m going to be in doggie HEAVEN!!!  I LOVE those crazy KIDS!!!!!

Hi Everyone!  It’s ME Brandi!  I just wanted to send out a special THANK YOU to all the VETERANS out there!

It was a BEAUTIFUL day to HONOR you!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!

I was soooo busy this weekend…and BOY was it HOT!  FM bought me a cool pool---but do you think she got the right size?

Brandi

Well…it’s really the thought that counts right?  I know she’s workin’ up to my BIG Birthday present!  Remember???

Ohhh---we did soooo much over the weekend and I’m feeling so well rested from my week of R & R that I thought I’d help FM out!

Brandi

But, she said I made better “garden art” than a gardener.  What do you suppose she means by that?

Well—I did help with the dog sitting duties!  FM was very proud of me!

We had a very special guest this weekend!!!  Meet my new buddy Kaitlyn 10-159

Brandi

Kaitlyn is the one that is the same color as me behind Miley.  My fur-butt foster sister Miley (RAGOM alumni 08-005 and former Puppy Mill Momma) is teaching her the ropes and explaining that her puppy mill days are over and she is well on her way to the Golden Life! (I’m not sure what “puppy mill” means but from the sounds of their conversation---I really don’t want to know.)  Well—I know LOVE and LOVE helps everyone feel better so that’s what I did for my new friend Kaitlyn.

Kaitlyn was also just spayed and had two teeth pulled last week, so when the other doggies were playing, I kept an eye on my new friend and comforted her!

Brandi

I told you I’m sensitive to these things!!!  FM says I’m an amazing doggie and I would be the BEST THERAPY doggie!  What does she me “would be”—I AM!  I love everyone I meet, and I make sure everyone gets some special lovin’---Brandi-STYLE!

Well…I hate to say it, but I was glad that my foster family had to return to work today because I’m exhausted!  Lovin’ & Playin’ non-stop would wear anyone out!  I’m gonna get some beauty rest while they are away, so I will be ready to play, play, play when they come home!

Brandi

Don’t forget…my BIRTHDAY is 11 days away…  Do you remember what I want most for my Birthday???

I’m still waiting for my FOREVER home.  FM keeps reminding me that “good things come to those who wait”, and I know she is right!  Just know that to be loved by me is something very special and I’m saving all my special lovin’ just for you!  So if you are looking for the best companion doggie EVER----here I am!!!  I promise I will make you laugh and give you more love than you can handle!  So…if you think you are my birthday present…you better hurry because my foster family is getting REALY attached to me, and I really love them, but I would really like a home of my own—you know what I mean?

I am dreamin’ about you right now!  I even pulled my ear over my eye to make sure my dream is not interrupted by the rest of the pack!

Love & Licks!!

Hi ALL!  It’s me Brandi!

Guess where I went?  (I told you I LOVE car rides didn’t I?)

Brandi

Well…I was hoping for the dog park, but Foster Dad brought me to that place that smells kinda weird and the two-leggers are wearing white long coats and they give you treats as they poke and prod you.  Yes—I went to the vet…but it wasn’t too bad.  FD brought me in to have my thyroid tested to see if MAYBE that was the reason for my big beautiful body AND to see if all this exercise has been OK for my legs and stuff because FD says it looks like my legs are a little sore.  Honestly, what does he expect?  I bet he would walk a bit funny with an extra 35% body fat on his frame like I do.  Of course I’m a bit sore, but I’m on a mission to get skinny and you know what they say,

“NO PAIN, NO GAIN!”

Foster Dad wants me to tell you that I’m a walking/running/ball-chasing machine, so he just wants to make sure I’m not pushing myself too hard.  BOY---ya gotta love it when your People love you that much!

Brandi

So..this is what the white coat two-leggers told me at the vet visit:

The good news is my THYROID is PERFECT, just like all my other blood-work!  NO THYROID ISSUE here...just good old fashion weight gain.  I guess the bad news is that I have to work it off the old fashion way…diet and exercise!  So, I’m just letting my future family know that because of this extra 20lb weight gain over the past year, and my new active life style, and my Golden age,  I am feeling the “weight” of these extra pounds on my frame and so this is what my forever family should know:

  • I NEED to loose weight to relieve my frame—and I’m more than willing to do so!
  • I NEED a good walking routine—at LEAST 2 (30-45min.) walks (at a good pace) a day
  • I NEED a good senior quality food that will provide healthy stuff for my bones and joints (and taste buds), but also help me with my weight.
  • I WOULD BENEFIT from an anti-inflammatory pill until my frame is no longer burdened by my extra poundage!
  • I NEED a family that will pay attention to my body and make sure I’m not over doing it like Foster Dad is doing.
  • I NEED a good family that LOVES me so much and CARES about me so much that they help me reach a good healthy weight goal!  (Kinda like Bob and Jillian do on the Biggest Loser!)

And MOST IMPORTANTLY,

I NEED a family that loves me for who I am TODAY and will be willing to…well—you know…for richer or poorer, being over-weight or perfect weight, in sickness and in health, till death do us part…and all that stuff!

FM says the REAL reason I am so big is because I’m stuffed to the brim with a great BIG GOLDEN personality and I’m overflowing with a BIG GOLDEN heart full of LOVE !

(“Can you say, “Therapy Dog?”)

FD has me on some doctor ordered “take it easy,” so I’ll just hang out and wait for your call!

Brandi

Don’t forget to contact your placement advisor if you think I’m your girl!

Hey EVERYONE-- it's ME--Brandi!

Wow--was that AWESOME I met so many new friends at the Ollu Dog Wash event on Saturday!

Brandi

Everyone was SOOOO nice to me so of course I had to give out a lot of kisses!  I even gave a kiss to all the ladies at Ollu to thank them for letting all us RAGOM doggies come down and hang out with them.  They were great!  And when it started raining, they let us hang out INSIDE—how cool is that?  I was quite relieved because when that really loud thunder started, I took cover under the RAGOM table.  Well, I guess my secret is out—I’m a bit afraid of thunder, but I bet you’re scared of something too, so we will help each other out—ok?

Brandi

After it stopped raining, I played “soccer” with some nice visitors.  Oh...you didn’t know I have a special talent?  Yes, I play GOALIE for the RAGOM team and I’m pretty darn good at it!  Just try and get one past me!  It’s a great game because I stop every ball and roll it right back to you! What can I say?? I’m a clever girl!

Brandi

And for those of you waiting to find out about my weight loss results…

We stopped at PetsMart on the way home to get weighed and I walked right in, licked the lady greeting us and headed right for the scale.  I jumped right on and watched FM intently for the results.  She had a funny look on her face, so we tried again.  Can you believe it?  ALL that work for only ½ lb. LOSS.  I was kinda bummed at first because my hourglass shape is starting to show and I worked so hard this week.  FM reminded me that even the contestants on Biggest Loser have weeks like that because when we start exercising, our bodies start changing and they get stronger.  Did you know muscle weighs more that soft stuff on my body?  Ahhh…think of that…I’m building muscles and getting stronger.   I love FM! She always looks at the bright side and makes me feel better.  Bottom-line—a LOSS is a LOSS…so I’m still headed in the right direction!

And for all you CAT LOVERS—YES—I’m CAT-TESTED and APPROVED!  I like to lick them just the same as my doggie friends…I told you…I like everyone I meet!

Brandi

Well, FM wants me to help with some chores because we are going to have a special guest (Kaitlyn 10-159) staying with us for the Memorial weekend, so I’ve gotta go help supervise!

I wish EVERYONE a great week ahead---it’s gonna be a HOT one and luckily, Foster Dad turned on the air conditioning so I’m a happy girl!

Of course the only thing I can think of that would make me even happier is to find my Forever home.  FM tells me to be patient because a PERFECT MATCH is worth the wait!  Good thing I’m so patient!  HA!

Love & Licks—

Brandi 10-127

HI friends in RAGOMland!!! It’s ME—Brandi! Can someone please explain to me why I need a bath BEFORE I go to the Ollu Dog Wash Event?

Well, anyways--it sure felt great after my workout!!! And ohhhhh…the concrete roll was delightful!

Then FM used this cool blowing machine which scared me a bit at first until I felt that beautiful cool air and then I just laid there and let her do whatever she wanted. Look at my coat!!!---FM couldn’t believe how shiny it is!

FM says I’m a total BEAUTY and so I’m ready to go to the big Ollu Dog Wash event on Saturday! I am SOOO excited to meet all my RAGOM friends and fans and maybe even my “Birthday present”?( Hint Hint)

I’m counting down the hours…so please stop by and see me and I will give you a big sloppy kiss for coming down! Don’t worry…I never run out of kisses, so the more the merrier! FM is going to stop by the vet on our way in so that I can once again “watch my weight.” FM says I’m starting to sport a bit of an hour-glass shape----so we are excited to see the numbers--oh yeah!

Hi Brandi FANS! Foster Mom here! Brandi is such a WONDERFUL doggie! She continues to fit in beautifully with our pack and our family! She is what we lovingly refer to as a “turn-key” doggie—she is totally trained, given free roam without even a door closed when we are away, very low maintenance, walks perfect on a leash, loves to play fetch, loves to cuddle, loves to “hang-out,” and gets along with everybody she meets—both 2 and 4 legged creatures. She loves rides in the car, she loves to be brushed and pampered, she eats her own food and is so thankful for a treat---she takes it so gently from your hand. Brandi has every quality you could ever want in a doggie whether you are a 1st time dog owner or a seasoned dog owner. She won’t be a marathon runner, but this girl had me a bit winded yesterday as we jogged around our yard. With all the exercise she has been getting, you can just see her energy level increasing each day. We have been giving her some aspirin as needed, but nothing more than what us 2-legged “40+ somethings” would require if we started an active exercise routine being 20+ pounds overweight J I can’t wait to see what her “weigh-in” reveals tomorrow!

Hope to see you all at the event! Again---if you think Brandi is the perfect match for you, let your placement advisor know---you will be glad you did because she is a total GEM!

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Hi Everyone! It’s ME—Brandi! Foster Mom took me to the vet to do my 1st week weight check because I guess being on Weight Watchers means you are suppose to “watch your weight” and guess what? I’m 2 whole pounds lighter already!!! See...nothing to it! Everyone cheered and I’m pumped to keep up all the play and walks (sounds like heaven to me!) You watch...I’m gonna be back in that bikini by summer. J

Foster Mom said I should tell everyone more about myself so that my Birthday present will be easier to spot when you see it. So…here are 10 things you should know about me:

  1. I love to play fetch and I bring my ball wherever I go. I will drop it gently in your lap and wait patiently for you to throw it. I do love the praise I get when I bring my ball back to you—who wouldn’t?
  2. I am a People dog. I do hang with my foster fur-butt siblings and we all get along great and I also had a fur sister at my previous home that went to the shelter with me. We were buds--but really, I prefer to play with my People! Dogs are cool, but People RULE in my world! So, I can go to a home with or without another doggie—either way—I’m good. And--no fence needed with me--I'm where you are so no worry here!
  3. I sleep on the floor right next to my People’s bed. You should know—I snore a bit J I think it’s the weight but Foster Dad snores too so they don’t mind.
  4. If you like a constant companion, I’m your GIRL! I will follow you wherever you want to go and lay down and keep you company. I will sometimes get too hot and go lay on the tile or hardwood, but if you call me, I’ll come right back and keep you company.
  5. I’m a great project supervisor! I will watch everything you are doing and when it’s time to take a break, I’ll come up to you and drop my ball right in front of you so you know it’s time to play. You know, all work and no play is no way to live life, so I will keep you on track!
  6. I take care of myself just fine while you are away all day--even 8 hours. I just lie by the door and wait for you to return. When you walk in, I will be ready to ask you how your day was and you can tell me all about it on OUR WALK. I LOVE going for walks and I’m a great listener. Just a note---just because I’m almost 10---don’t think for a moment that you and I are not going to get some exercise. Foster Mom says I’m a great walker…I pull a little bit but when she says, “No,” I fall back to her pace. So…what I’m saying is I can keep up or keep down to whatever pace you set. I can even jog a bit for you beginners.
  7. Do you have a car? I love to go for car rides and you can really take me anywhere. I have GREAT manners!!! I enjoy meeting other doggies and PEOPLE of course. I have not met a cat yet, but there are chickens across the street that FM is going to try me out on…but really, I only care about my People and my ball so FM isn’t too worried about cats, but we’ll let you know.
  8. Kids---LOVE ’em…love to play with them because they throw me my ball and they think it’s great when I bring it back. They have so much energy---don’t know if I want to really live with them 24/7, but they sure are fun to play with.
  9. Are you the quiet type—hey—ME TOO! The shelter never heard me bark in 3 weeks and I only barked once at my foster home but that’s because me and my 3 foster fur siblings were walking along and 1 doggie was walking and all my siblings barked and so I had to show them I was part of their pack. So I barked once and FM was surprised---but then said, “No” and that was that. I have not barked since. I told you I’m a great listener! I do grunt a bit when I’m happy to see you or want to play, but that’s it.
  10. The BEST thing about me is…I am a LOVER, a snuggle bear, and a best friend. You will never be lonely if I’m around because all I want to do is love you. I will love you forever—that’s just the kind of doggie I am.

So….if I these are the 10 qualities you are looking for in a fur friend…let’s talk! Please email your placement advisor and ask to meet me because I want to meet you!

Love & Licks,
Brandi 10-127
