Let’s welcome RAGOM’s newest elder!  Breezer is an 8 year old that has a red, curly coat and a beautiful white face.  She came into RAGOM through no fault of her own.  Her previous owner could no longer care for her or Bella 11-087 due to some financial/health difficulties.  He loved these girls and he was all they knew.  Needless to say, this girl has been a little stressed trying to get accustomed to a new routine, another dog and two young children.

When we met transport (THANK YOU) Saturday, the girls (Breezer and Bella 11-087) hopped right into our minivan and Breezer made her way between my two girls, she felt safe with them and was so gentle.  My girls loved it!  When we got home we did the dog introductions, however, Breezer and our resident dog did not see eye to eye.  There are been some disagreements between our resident and Breezer, so we have a new routine, where Breezer and our resident have their own space or supervised.

Breezer went to the vet today.  She is spayed, weighs 72lbs, HW neg, UTD and was already microchipped.  She does have a fatty tumor on her leg, but the vet is not worried about it, she has a couple of ‘skin tags’/tumor on her tongue, eye lid and top of her head.  Again, the vet wasn’t worried.  The vet said that it looks as though a tooth was extracted and her teeth are worn down.  If she went in for a dental clean possible more extractions, the ‘skin tags’ could be removed. In her paperwork it states that she had a stroke at age 5 or 6, however, there are no lasting effects except for a head tilt that you can see when she is tired.

Breezer is a sweet girl. She loves her humans, loves to be pet, loves car rides, is great with kids (we have a 3 and 6 yr old), walks great on a gentle leader, knows sit, stay, drop, down (used to be a hunting dog) back in the day, enjoys Bella 11-087 (who is her niece), they have played tug-a-war and drink out of the same bowl.  It would be nice if Breezer and Bella 11-087 were adopted together, but is not necessary.

As stated above, Breezer and my resident do not get along. I am not sure if it is an alpha thing or my dog, so if there are other dogs in the home, we would have to see if she got along with them.  She likes to be at the table when we are eating so we have her lay down so she is not waiting for the table scraps.   She doesn’t need a fence though I am sure she would like to run around.  It does state that she has some storm/firework anxiety, but wants to be by you if that happens.  She is kenneled during the day when we are away.

Updates

Sorry for the delayed update, but we were taking care of some things before we updated all of Breezer's fans.

Last month, Breezer wasn't feeling the greatest and were concerned by the sudden onset of symptoms, so we took her into the vet.  They did a stool sample and the tests showed no parasites/worms.  However, the vet was concerned about her enlarged lymph nodes.  He took a biopsy of her lymph nodes and the results came back as malignant lymphoma.  We will keep an eye on her and will continue to do all the things she loves to do!

Breezer had a rough start in our home, but things are completely different now. All the dogs get along great, they drink out of the same bowl at the same time! There is some play that goes on inside the house and on our walks!  Breezer has been such a sweet and mellow girl and she has wiggled herself into our hearts.

Keep Breezer in your thoughts!

Wow, what a change in all of us these last few days!

Breezer and my resident now get a long and have even seen them playiing together!  We have really started seeing how wonderfully sweet Breezer is, she will just follow you around and lay down to stay out of the way or lay down at your feet.  If she could have the couch she would be so happy, but we tell all our pups to stay off.  She is such a mellow dog!  The vet called yesterday and she passed all her lab work with flying colors! It is the funniest thing to see Bella 11-087 and Breezer play, Bella places a paw on Breezer's head and Breezer talks to her like really, you want to play right now, I just want to relax.

Come meet this wonderful dog.  Again, Breezer came into RAGOM with her niece Bella 11-087 and it would be great if a family was looking for two dogs, because these two are a perfect match for each other.  However, if there is a family that is looking for a sweet mellow girl that enjoys her walks, contact your placement advisor!
