Meet Bud! I have had Bud for a week now and all I can say is WOW. He is the sweetest and most easy going guy! He came to my home without missing a beat, was comfortable from the get go and such a good boy! I have given him free roam of the house with my resident Murphy since day one. Bud gets along with everyone he meets, very outgoing, curious and playful with the right dog.

Bud was born on 4/23/1999 so he will be 12 years old on Friday. Bud was surrendered because his owner was no longer able to care for him. Bud clearly has been loved and taken care of in his life because he knows all the commands, has great recall and knows a few tricks. Bud is so well-adjusted, probably more than any dog I've had and that includes my own resident dogs! Really, Bud is perfect and not to mention cute as a button! You can see one of Bud's cute tricks here.

Bud is on some maintenance vitamins for joints and coat. He also had been diagnosed with diabetes insipidus (DI) while in care of his previous owner so he came to us with drops for his eyes as treatment. He takes a tiny little drop in the corner of his eye every day before bedtime. Contrary to what I've been reading about DI, Bud seems to have full control of bladder and has never had an accident in my house even during the workday stretches. He drinks about as much water as my resident dog which seems normal to me.

Bud has perfect house manners. He likes to be near you but is not a velcro dog, and he also knows when and how to get out of your way. He likes to hang out under the chair in the kitchen when I'm cooking or doing dishes.

Bud has quickly learned the house rules according to resident dog Murphy so they have become fast friends. They seem to hang out well together and are really two peas in a pod.

All in all, Bud has captured FM's heart. He's got her wrapped around his paw. He does not get on the furniture on his own, but he will 'ask' to get on the bed with a little help. How can FM resist?!

Bud is definitely ready for his forever home. I know he is almost 12, but he has a lot of life in him and SO much to give! I really feel any family would be so lucky to have him no matter how long or short. You just couldn't go wrong with this guy!

Oh yeah, and P.S.

Bud will be at the PetCo event in West St. Paul on 4/23 with Auntie Kris! :)

Well, my Buddy found his forever home! In his forever home, he has a mom who loves him to pieces, a big fur-brother who teaches him the ropes and many friends. Bud also loves them and he told me, that is where he wanted to spend the rest of his years. Yep, right here with me!

I have fostered several dogs now and it's always hard to let them go, but with no exception they have gone to fantastic forever homes. With every new foster dog, that is always the plan, but sometimes plans change. Bud found me and just wiggled his way into my heart, which really only took about 3 or 4 nanoseconds, but being the good foster mom, I continued to search for Bud's forever home but I finally listened to Bud's vibes that this is where he wanted to be and well you know, we want what best for our beloved fosters! I think he caught on that FM is a softie for the seniors and worked it!

Welcome home Buddy, we love you!

Hello to Bud's fans. Bud continues to be just a sweetie. He has really captured FM's heart. We have quite the regular routine here and you would never know Bud hasn't been a part of it his whole life. Bud does not waver on his good-boy-ness. He's very perky, easy going, follows me everywhere but is not a velcro dog. He just wants to be with me. Between storms this weekend I had a chance to finally do some yard work and Bud was right there helping. In spite of the humidity and heat, Bud stayed out with me while resident dog Murphy went inside where it was cool!

Bud has got quite a coat and for some reason this weekend, there were more comments than ever on how it was a little unusual. It's very thick, coarse, straight and long. I think it's adorable, but I can see it being a little hot as the summer marches on. That will be no problem as I am used to keeping the house cool and running the AC to keep my beloved senior dogs comfortable.

I had a chance to see if Bud is a swimmer or not, and I would say not! He will carefully step into the water, raise his paws high as he walks in it and then gets a drink. He does not show any interest in going for a swim. He will have more opportunities with the warmer weather, so we'll see if he becomes more interested with exposure.

Here is a picture from a couple of weeks ago, once again, Bud attending a birthday party and enjoying the festivities. Will try and capture some more recent ones for next update.

Bud continues to be himself. The sweetest dog EVER! His goodness is just unwavering and he has the best of the best of a golden personality. Here are a few pictures from this past week.

Bud and Murphy do well together just hanging out

Bud attended a fabulous dog party this weekend and I knew it would be right down his alley. As you can see he is taking full advantage of the space and all his new friends and keeping up with the young ones!

Bud taking a rest at the party. As you can see, he gets along with everyone, not bothered by any human or animal.

Needless to say Bud was very tired from his busy weekend. This is the closest he has ever gotten to laying on Murphy's bed. He must of been exhausted!

Bud is pure joy to have around. I just can't say enough good things about him. He really is your perfect senior boy! Bud will be at the Bloomington Chuck and Don's on Sunday if you would like to come and meet this boy!

Hello to all Bud fans out there!

Bud just continues to be a great senior dog! I learned this morning that he does NOT have storm anxiety, no surprises from Mr. Easy-going!

Bud has been busy with play dates, meeting new dogs and people, yard-bones and walks! All of his favorite things. He enjoys them all so much, it makes these activities even more fun for me to see him with such glee!

Another of Bud's favorite activities is to go the RAGOM events to meet new people and dogs and receive pets and treats!! Below is a picture (courtesy of the Zerby's) of the generous Girl Scouts who arrived bearing home made healthy treats and handmade pull toys made out of denim. In ADDITION, they presented a HUGE cash donation to our RAGOM founder Jane N. to help with medical costs for all our beloved dogs in foster care. Thanks so much for your generosity you guys! I know Bud is thoroughly enjoying the treats and toys!

In the bottom right, you will see Bud receiving a smooch from FM. I didn't really mean for that to be part of the picture but I just can't help myself!!

If you can open your heart to this perfect senior boy and give him the best time of his life that he so deserves contact your placement coordinator.

First, I would like to give a HUGE shout out to Bud's sponsor Kelly D! Thank you so much for helping our sweet senior boy Bud. It's people like you that really make a huge difference in our beloved RAGOM dog's life. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was out of town over Easter weekend so Bud spent the weekend at the FUN house--Auntie Kris and her pack. I think he had a blast and once again, didn't miss a beat in a new place. Below is an update from Auntie.

Auntie Kris here...

I had the utmost pleasure of doggy-sitting this guy for 3 days and let me tell you, I am in L-O-V-E!

Bud was such a joy to have around.  He loved playing with Millie (09-291) and Stella, the neighborhood 9 lb mix.  He was so good with everyone and every dog he met.  I actually got down on the floor and wrestled with him, too!  When he wants to play he get's his "A-roo rooing" going so I started calling him my little roo-roo.  He met my cat with little fan fare and kind of had it in him that he would like to play with Gizmo but soon realized the cat ran way too fast for him to give chase.

He met a bunch of kids and did amazingly with them as well!  What more could you ask for in a dog??

At night he asked to come up in bed with us, so I obliged.  4 goldens in bed with me was quite the love fest :-)

He got to meet a bunch of his adoring fans at PetCo on Saturday, where he celebrated his TWELTH birthday!  If you hadn't known he was 12, you would have guessed him for 8-- he has so much spunk and love left.

Hi Bud fans,

I couldn't resist another update so soon just to report how great Bud is doing. I was wondering if the first week was just a fluke and that some 'imperfection' would rear it's head with Bud, but nope! He really is the perfect senior boy! I kind of feel like I'm cheating as a foster, he's just so easy and great to have around! FM is falling hard for this one!

The pictures below (thanks Devon TT!) really capture the essence of Bud. He is a kind, gentle, loving soul yet confident with a golden personality.

Just a few more things about Bud I haven't mentioned: Bud weighs in at about 76 pounds, loves his treats and meal time. He gets bananas and yogurt with his kibble in the morning and salmon and green beans with his kibble in the evening. Meal time is a happy time at our house! Bud likes to chew on his kongs with or sometimes without a treat. He is not destructive with any toys except maybe a tennis ball, does not guard (of course not!). He occasionally barks if he sees something over the fence but it doesn't last long.

I think he would do fine in a home with a muture dog or no dog. I have not cat tested him, but can hardly imagine him hurting a fly. He did meet a friend's min-pin and did fine, in fact they were kind of buddies. Does that count for a cat test? :) I think children would be fine as long as they were respectful of Bud's age and weren't looking for a playmate but someone to love! Bud loves his walks and if you say "Bud, do you wanna go for a walk?" He starts hopping around and says "Woo woo!" So cute. Bud rides great in the car but just gets very thirsty after the ride. Bud does not like kennels and there just isn't any reason to put him in one. He has a scar on his nose where he was trying to get out when he was in one at the vet or groomer.

I want Bud to go to home where there is someone around the home often so he isn't alone for too long or they can take him to work. Someone who will commit to taking him for daily walks and make these the best years of his life. Bud is up for more than one walk a day if you will take him! He so deserves a lot of love and attention at this time in his life.

Don't forget, Bud will be celebrating his 12th birthday on Saturday at the RAGOM event at PetcCo in West St. Paul. Come and say hello to this sweet boy!
