Buddy 06-060

Profile

2/21/06: Buddy is a 1.5 year old beautiful, dark red Golden. He has lived with kids and smaller dogs in the past and is fitting in just fine with our dogs. I can't tell if he is ignoring the cats, or just hasn't found them yet. We picked up Chinese food on our way home with Buddy. One of our fortune cookies said: "A package of great value will arrive soon" -- I believe it already has and his name is Buddy!

We were out playing in the backyard yard today and with the snow melting, the dogs were FILTHY. So since it was sunny and warm (for Feb) we hauled out the hose to clean them off because we don't have a mud room (the final rinse was on the patio and then straight into the house!). But we learned that Buddy loves water!

Muddy Waters....or Buddy Waters??

Buddy went to the vet this morning. He has been well cared for and is in good health. He weighed in at 67 pounds and could stand to lose 3 or 4. His previous family had be working on dropping his weight and were having success, so he shouldn't have any problem shedding these pounds with regular exercise. He loved everyone he met at the vet and is very good natured. Buddy also found the cats last night -- at 3am! -- and announced his discovery with some good old fashioned barking. Those of us who are well aware of the fact that this house has cats were not amused. He doesn't seem inclined to hurt them, though he might give them a good chase if given the option.

Buddy knows only a few commands, but he is very smart (makes it hard to hide tennis balls from him!) and very attentive. He would be a star pupil in obedience. He LOVES balls and entertains himself by carrying one around, dropping it and then picking it back up again. It's a little noisy with the heavy rubber balls we have for our ball-eating Golden, but it's all in good fun.

He respects baby gates and is used to being confined to a couple rooms during the day and at night. He has also been crated in the past. Last night we put up a baby gate in the bedroom doorway and he was fine. On the way home last night he did get car sick (and has gotten sick in the past), but he was fine on the way to and from the vet this morning - so hopefully the sickness is more related to nervousness than the car.

Buddy is a great dog, just looking for someone to love! Contact placementatragom [dot] org if you are an approved app and interested in meeting this fine fellow. If you haven't applied yet, please fill out an online application.
