Hi There~ This is Buddy! I am a 4 year old, neutered Golden with unbelievable qualities. These peeps who live in this house picked me up last night and they can't stop talking about how great I am. I know already, stop!!! When they picked me up from the transporter, I was wet. I thought I would take in a little swimming earlier in the day. When I got to this house, this huge dog greeted me and we get along just fine. I was so tired though that I ate a little, did my business outside and slept through the night. I didn't move once from the bedroom floor. These people were amazed by that too! I wonder who they are comparing me too?

I am up-to-date with all my shots and heartworm negative. I know my name and come to it. I sit when told but don't quite understand this "down" thing. I guess they want me to lay on the floor. I will have to work with them on that. These people don't have a fenced yard so when I got out today, I wandered the neighborhood a bit. Lovely area! I guess they want me to stay in the yard and on a leash. I will put that on my list of "things learned" also.

I came into RAGOM because I was left at a shelter overnight. My foster mom started getting teary when she was reading about it. I am so glad that I am in a warm house now with people who love me. Thanks goodness for good Samaritans! I have to go now. This lady is going to brush me now. I can't wait!!

Before coming into RAGOM, Buddy started his own blog while at the shelter.

Our grief is still so fresh, and our agony indescribable. Our perfect Buddy was diagnosed with GME Encephilitis after a spinal tap on Friday afternoon. He was fine as we went to baseball practice for one of our sons on Tuesday and the dog park last Wednesday. By yesterday, the disease had attacked his brain so severely that the only kind thing to do was to help him cross the bridge. There is no cure for this disease and no treatment. We are devastated, but so blessed to have had this most perfect dog in our lives. He would have been with us for 2 years next month. We will never be the same. He was perfect.

Hi, this is Buddy's foster mom. He is too pooped to blog right now. He asked me to do the honors. Buddy's day started with a long walk. He is great on the leash and doesn't pull at all, even without a Gentle Leader. He doesn't know to walk on the left side so that will be put in his "things learned" column! He then took a nap on the couch. Yes, I said couch and he immediately got off when I walked around the corner. He definitely knows that he should not be up there :):):) I then cut the mats from behind his ears and gave him a warm shower with lots of bubbles. No problem in the bath column except he shook after getting out of the tub instead of before. From there it was another nap. In the afternoon Buddy's foster sister got the pool out and you can see for yourself that water is in Buddy's blood. So are tennis balls. Look at the vertical that this dog gets! AMAZING!!!

I wanted to add this excerpt from a transporter who helped Buddy get to Iowa:

Saturday we took him for a walk out through the garage. We were standing in the garage and I hit the button for the door to go up. He backed up a couple steps and watched the door go up in amazement - then I realized that he lived in a trailer park - he had never seen a garage door! He was doing tricks at the vet's - he sits up and begs. Very special boy!

I agree that Buddy is a very special dog. Each new sight and sound is not missed by this boy. He is curious to all the new things around him. If you would like to talk further about Buddy please email placementatragom [dot] org. I am sure that Buddy will be blogging tomorrow! Stay tuned!
