Hi everyone. We hope you all had a GReat Thanksgiving. We sure did, because we added another member to our pack last week. His name is Buddy and he is adorable. Buddy is a 2 1/2 year old golden that looks to be mixed with some type of wire-hair terrier (maybe?-check out his beard!). He definitely has that sweet golden personality though.
He went to the Vet today and got up to date on his shots. He weighed in at 58 lbs and looks healthy. He only had one minor issue with his, how can I say this delicately...his back end. That is why he is wearing a high collar in one of his pictures, to keep him from licking his bottom. No biggie though. If he leaves it alone he will heal up just fine. He will go back to the Vet tomorrow to get neutered and then he will be ready for his forever home.
Buddy has been with us for almost a week and he is fitting right in with our gang. He and our young Great Dane, Sally, run all over the back yard together and they have a blast. Buddy gets along with our three dogs and also our cat. We have two young kids, ages 2 and 5 and he is very well mannered with them. Buddy hangs out in a comfy kennel while we are gone or at night while we are sleeping. He did have free roam at his old place and he would probably do fine with free roam at his new home. So far, no signs of counter surfing or chewing of any inappropriate items. His previous owners did say that if a garbage can was out in the open, he would have a hard time refraining from helping himself. But, what dog wouldn't. Which brings us to how very well he listens. He is such a smart boy and does listen to commands quite well. I think if he had some real one on one training, he would be top of his class.
We haven't tried seeing how he is off the leash in an open unfenced area (RAGOM policy). The previous owners said that he doesn't run off and he likes to stay near you. We have already found he does listen VERY well to you when you call him back.
Anyhow, we will keep you up to date on how this sweet Buddy boy is doing. If you are interested in meeting this guy and want him to be YOUR Buddy, contact placement at placement
ragom [dot] org, and they will help you contact us.
Until next time, good luck on your hunt for that perfect dog!!
