Welcome to Ragom Buddy 13-346. This gorgeous 2 year old boy was surrendered due to a divorce. He has been with us for a few days now and is doing great. Here is some information on Buddy.

  • He is completely housetrained. He has not had any accidents since arriving.
  • He gets along well with other dogs, but doesn't require one in his forever home.
  • He is interested in the cats, but not aggressive. He can go to a home with cats, but dog savvy ones only.
  • He weighs 70 lbs, is UTD on vaccinations with his only ailment being an ear infection in his right ear that we are currently treating.
  • He gets along well with my toddler so would do well in a home with kids as long as you aren't worried about him knocking them over which has happened a time or two.
  • He is mildly anxious in the car, but settles shortly. He was tethered in the car on his transport here and has done great.
  • He sometimes will bark at new people that go up to him quickly. As long as he has a minute to warm up he does great.
  • He has no aggressions, food, toy or otherwise that we have noted. He is a really good boy.
  • Buddy is being trained to stay off the furniture, but needs a home that will let him sleep on the bed. He is unwilling to give that up :)
  • Buddy is an active guy and will need someone to get him daily exercise. He would be a good running partner for an active family. He is playful inside, but does settle down nicely.
  • Buddy has not gotten into the trash, he rarely jumps on people and has not chewed anything up, but we have caught him with his feet on the counters so he does need to work on his counter surfing.
  • This beautiful boy knows several commands and tricks. He is one smart dude!

Hi all!

Buddy here, just letting you know how things are going at my new FURever home!

I thought I'd be anxious during the 4.5 hour drive to my new home in Mom and Dad's tiny car, but Dad cuddled with me all the way home, and it made me feel totally calm!

My new brother and sister LOVE to cuddle with me and I LOVE to be their pillow!

My little brother (I'm older than him by 2 whole months!) also likes to brush me. Mom says it looks like he's grooming his pony, but I don't know what she's talking about.

So far, I really like my new home! One of the cats lets me sniff him, but the other one thinks he's in charge around here. I'm trying to wear him down! I also don't like people coming into my house and getting between me and my two-legged siblings. I'm very protective of them. I also really don't like my Great Grandma's walker. I scared her a bit when I barked and lunged at her, but that walker thing got way too close to my sister! Mom had to pull me out of the room and calm me down. She says we're going to work on that. She keeps saying something about me needing to be "socialized", whatever that is! She hauls me all over town to meet new people. She says I was doing awesome until the walker thing. Oh well. A dog's gotta protect these little people! I miss my foster family a lot - They were awesome! - But my Mom and Dad say I'm here to stay, and I love hearing that, too! I'll be sure to keep you updated on Buddy's Adventures... Until next time, thanks for checking in on me!

Buddy and the S Family

Buddy has now been with us a week and we are learning more and more about him. He loves to play tug and keep away with the ball and rope. He walks great with a gentle leader on. First time with it this weekend and he did fabulous. He walks right next to you and no alligator rolls trying to get it off. He had a bath this week and was a great sport during it though I am not sure how much he liked it. He can hold it up to 9 hours during the work day and is doing great going into the crate with a little help. He did have free roam in his previous home and was said to be fine with that as well. I trust him completely with my toddler. It is so cute to watch them chase each other around the house!

He sounds perfect, right!? Well Buddy’s one fault that we have found is that he is nervous about new people coming into the home. He will bark at new people coming into the house and it takes several minutes to warm up. Treats definitely help, but he isn’t the typical Golden that runs up and wants immediate attention! This guy needs some time to warm up and get to know you first. Who can blame him after all the changes in his life in the past week!  My guess is Buddy just needs a little socialization and positive reinforcement to realize that all strangers are good.
