Hi, my name is Buddy Black, I am being fostered in Minneapolis.  I am a male golden retriever/flat coated retriever mix.  I am ten years old and as sweet as can be.  I'm not a very big dog, about 45 pounds. I came into RAGOM because my previous owner could not give me the attention I deserved.  I do have some health issues going on right now that we are working on. Please don't be alarmed, they will be gone soon.  I have a yeast infection on my skin and have lost some of my fur so my foster mom is giving me a bath every week and medicine.  I was not feeling very good when I first came to her but I am definitely feeling better already. 

Even though I am an elderly dog, I am strong and healthy and have some great years ahead of me.  I LOVE to play in the yard and go for walks.  I am a good walker with my gentle leader, and I treasure these daily walks.  It feels so good to get outside, and I don't even have any hip problems as many goldens do.  I am potty trained so I do not make a mess when my foster mom goes to work all day.  I LOVE to cuddle, am very gentle, and listen very well.  I LOVE to be around people, which of course is my nature being a golden and all.  So if you are looking for a dog who will spend most of his time alone, I'm not the one for you.  I need a lot of good care and attention, and I will give you a lot of love and care in return.  Please come visit me if you want a loving  companion who will always be by your side to snuggle, listen and even watch t.v.

We are still working on Buddy Black's allergies. The prednisone is helping but now that his dose is decreasing the itching is returning. The vet will be calling me next week so we can talk about our next step. He continues to be such a sweet loving dog. During Christmas he will be going to a temp foster, Maggie. She has agreed to take care of him next week, and i'm sure she will enjoy him as much as i do. How can you not enjoy a face like this? I will miss him so much. We continue looking for his permanant home, one that is willing to help him with his allergies.

I had my follow up vet check last Friday and my skin and ears are looking a lot better.  However, the vet said they still are not cleared up because I must have had the infections for a very long time.  So my foster is still giving me medicine and baths so I continue to get healthier.  I don't mind, though. I take my pill very well if you put it in cheese or peanut butter.  I am also very good when given my bath.  I have so much love to give to a great family. Even though I am a senior dog I am very healthy and have so much puppy in me.  I love to run and play and chase squirrels and go on walks.  As i mentioned before, I love to cuddle, so if you are an adult or have a child who would like to sleep or cuddle with me I would be very happy. I am such a good dog who just needed some medical attention that my previous owner could not give me.  So please consider bringing me and all the love i have into your home.  My foster mom will be very sad to see me go but she will be so happy for me to have a permanent home.
