Buddy (Forrest 05-262)

Profile

9/3/05: Forrest is a 10-11 month old boy, that was abandoned on a country road. A good Samaritan saw him sitting by the road and stopped to check and see if he was hurt or had tags. He wasn't hurt and didn't have any tags, just a really tight collar. He tried to get in the truck, and when the guy said no, he went back over to the same spot and laid down. He did that with every car that stopped, and when they wouldn't let him in the car, he went back to the same spot and laid back down, like he was waiting for his people to come back and get him. The good Samaritan picked him up at the end of the day, and called all the shelters in the area. No one had reported him missing. They called RAGOM to make sure he would find a great home.

Hi, update on Forrest now Buddy!

HE IS AMAZING - Just LOVE this big boy! He is one of those dogs that will protect you and I just know if I were ever in trouble he would get me help. He is doing great with his sister Abby, he is living on a small hobby farm and he does a perimeter walk every morning to see what has been around and does another before he goes to bed, he is very much a watch dog. He has had no health issues at all, he came to me with a few but within 3 months he has been in perfect health just has to go in for his yearly shots and exam which he always passes with flying colors.

Every day I am thankful that he and I found each other. He knows and appreciates his warm home, he had been abandoned so he really does appreciate all the love here. Anyone on the fence please know this is the most gratifying purchase you will ever make!

THANKS!!

I picked up Forrest on Saturday morning. He is a typical young dog. He knows several commands, like come, sit and no. He doesn't jump up, unless he's really excited. He's very interested in my cats, unfortunately, they aren't interested in him. He can't quite understand why they won't play with him and keep whacking him every time he tries to smell them. He played really well with the other big dog at his rescuer's house. He hasn't had any accidents, and potties on command when you let him out. He loves to chase a tennis ball, and squeeze the woobies that squeak. He just wants to play, and be petted. He will need someone to work with him on walking on a leash. I've been crating him when I'm gone, but he's been sleeping in my bedroom at night.

His ears are very badly infected, I bet he's never been to a vet. I'm taking him to the vet this afternoon to have his ears treated, and get him tested for heartworms and UTD on his shots. We'll wait on the neuter for now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he's heartworm negative, since I'm sure he hasn't been on any preventative. I'll update again after our vet appointment.
