Buddy has been recovering from his neuter and is doing very well. When the vet did his pre-op bloodwork and exam they found that he has Lyme disease and also a Staph skin infection. He will be on antibodics for 28 days. He takes 2 pills 4 times a day. He really looks forward to them, seeing how I stuff them in hotdog or cheese:) Living as an outside dog caught up to this sweet dog. We had the vet take xrays of his hips and she said they looked ok. His health future looks positive:) He is doing a great job getting used to household things. I ran the vac a lot yesterday and while he doesn't love it, he is ok with it. He will need to be exposed to everything possible to catch up for not being well socialized with objects and situations. Take him to sport events, the pet store, pretty much everywhere dogs are allowed and I know he will catch up. Until he is familiar with something he may need extra help. For example, when it was bath time I ended up having to lift him in the tub and he was afraid of the minivan (who isn't?) and I had to lift him in. Now that I think about it that could have had something to do with his stiffness from the Lyme disease. The vet said that should clear up now. He has NO problem with people of any age and other dogs. He is perfect in that area:) Now I am going to focus on getting him housebroken and reliable in that area. I don't think it will take a lot of work on his part because he is such a fast learner but it's me who will need to focus on the task:) If you are interested in this wonderful dog please email placement
ragom [dot] org and please do it fast because I would be tempted to keep him and I promised my husband that we were just going to foster, not adopt:)
