Sweet Boy Calvin is doing so well, enjoying the Golden life! He's a loving, happy boy that loves his people and foster sister, Lily.
This Turkish dog thoroughly loves his walks and has greatly improved in his reaction to critters. When a bunny or a squirrel is spotted on our walks, he responds to "leave it" and will just stare for a moment, and then his attention is diverted.
He has been good with other dogs on walks as well, although he will react with barking and pulling if the other dog is aggressive or reactive first. Most of the time, he looks and is asked to "leave it," so he moves on. What a good boy!
He just adores being groomed and will lovingly anuggle with you, put his head in your lap, or sit at your feet. He does great in the car and has had great vet visits. This boy just loves being loved on and will reward you with a big smile and gentle nudges for more.
He plays nicely with his foster sister, enjoying balls and wrestling with his playmate. He is healthy and has a beautiful, soft coat and bright teeth.
This soft-hearted fella is a great dog looking for his forever home.

Calvin, a petite 60-pound Golden boy, has the biggest and best smile! This happy boy loves his people, loves being groomed, and wants to be near you or snuggle in close. He's very affectionate and will nudge you to be the first in line for ear scratches or tummy rubs!
Calvin is great on walks and loves car rides. He gets along great with the resident dog and loves to play. He is a good boy when getting a bath, and his coat is soft and thick.
A huge improvement we've observed is that Calvin has learned to "leave it" when he gets exctied by squirrels and other dogs when we're out on walks. He calms down readily and continues walking.
At home, he'll bark at people walking by with their dogs. Again, the "leave it" command calms him down. He gets over it after I keep my attention on him for a minute or two.
When he's in the yard, he'll still try to catch a bunny when he can, though I was able to redirect him yesterday. His prey drive has become more manageable, but it isn't something that will go away completely, so a tall, physical fence is still required.
Overall, this is one happy fella that is looking to be a part of a family so he may shower them with love and affection!

Calvin has definitely made himself a part of his pack, playing nicely with the resident dog and his foster dad. He loves his people and cannot wait to lay next to you to get maximum petting and attention! He enjoys his days lounging, keeping watch on the neighborhood, checking for squirrels, bunnies, and other dogs.

Mr. Calvin is a sweet young pup who has really settled in to the Golden life, living playfully and happily with the resident dog. He is confident and relaxed, loves his playmate, and enjoys snuggling in close to his people.
Calvin was a street dog and shows a few remnants of his prior life - he has a fear of brooms, does not like being startled awake, and will bark at some goings-on through the window. He also has a strong prey drive and will go chasing after critters in the yard, so a fence 6 feet or higher will be required. He has not shown to be an escape artist, but has dug in the yard.
He does not resource guard, does not have separation anxiety, and is neithera chewer nor destructive. He has free roam of the house when his foster is gone. He’s never had an accident in the house.
He gets along well with new people and loves on them, but he has had some reactions with other dogs (barking) and will require slow, neutral introductions. He is good on the leash, but can get overwhelmed in crowded situations.
Calvin is a sweet boy that just wants to be loved and be part of a family. He is a soft, cuddly buddy that rides well in the car and does great with baths. He loves attention and would be great with another dog or solo.

Calvin has started to respond to his name, but I’ve been using “Cal,” not "Calvin" as I’ve always liked three-letter names for dogs. He has also learned the "sit" command (thanks to my mentor for working on that).
I’m not quite sure how to work on "lay down," as he does it as a reflex. When you walk up to him, he lies down and rolls onto his side - so he just does it, but not as a command. So, I’ll count that as he knows "lay down."
He loves to sit on the ottoman and look out the window. He brings all his toys up with him after taking them from my resident dog.
I’ve had a few opportunities to take Cal to a few outings, and he has been really good with other dogs. I was told he is not good with cats, but have not had an opportunity to test that, as I already know my resident dog is not cat-tolerant.
He hasn’t been tested around kids for a long period, but has had no issue at some of the meet-and-greets and when meeting kids on walks.
Cal has not chewed up anything at my house, but my mentor had a few dish rags chewed on, so it might be something to keep an eye on. I’ve been able to test if he is food-protective and I don’t think he is, as I can put my hand in his dog bowl while he eats and he couldn't care less.
He likes to play and likes to snuggle on the couch. He has a sweet disposition and is a good boy, easy-going and well-behaved. He is a good looking fella and likes to be groomed.

Calvin is a 6- to 7-year-old Golden boy who has been living with a rescuer in Turkey for the last 4 months. He was found in a shelter a long way from Istanbul. No other rescuers would take him because he was older and it was too expensive to fly him to Istanbul from this small town.
Luckily, one rescuer stepped forward and incurred the expense of flying him to her. He is a wonderful boy and lived in her garden with 17 other dogs.
Calvin, however, was not a fan of the cats at the house and so he cannot go to a home with cats. This playful, almost-senior boy is excited to find his forever home here in the Midwest.
Calvin came to MN in early September and fared well despite his long journey. He has been with me for a few weeks now and has been a very good boy!
On the first day, he had a small accident, but has had none since. He loves playing with my resident Golden and is a good snuggler. He does not know commands, but comes when you whistle, and is still a little timid about coming inside.
He needs a fence as he has a strong prey drive - squirrels are of great interest to him! He’s good on the leash and loves his walks. He likes a corner in my bedrooms to sleep the day away, but will follow me around when I am home. He sleeps on the the floor and occasionally crawls up on the bed.
He had his wellness vet check and is healthy, up to date on his vaccinations, and microchipped. He has no resource-guarding issues, but has shown some nervousness durning storms; he is not destructive, but rather just hides.
He’s a good eater, sleeper, and walker, a good playmate and a calm, well-behaved fella.
