Cari 07-560

Profile

Cari is a precious little girl from another horrible puppy mill in Arkansas. At 14 months old, she weighs only 27 pounds.  When she arrived in RAGOM's care, she was covered in fleas and full of worms and parasites. After all she's been through, Cari still runs around, plays with our other dogs and has even picked up a toy to call her own. She is currently staying with her mom (Pudding 07-522) and her sister Lovie (07-559). It was awesome to see the three of them running around. Although unavailable until she has put on some weight and cleared up her parasites, we will update often as I'm positive there will be some great improvements as Cari is properly loved and cared for.

Many thanks to those that made rescuing Cari possible--we saved her life!!

I am happy to announce that after 2 weeks we have finally been able to get Cari to go on a walk! She was afraid of pavement but tonight after a tiny bit of coaxing she gave in and joined the fun with the resident dogs on a nice walk. Boy, did she run and bounce around with excitement when she realized it was nothing to be scared of! She is eating well, and finally getting feathering on her tail! She is going to be a real beauty! She is doing great with going in her kennel at night and when we are gone. She seems very comfortable there! She is also doing well with house training. She goes to the door when she needs to go out - what a smartie! :)

Look!
I finally learned to play tug-o-war with the dogs!

And how to wrestle with Junior!

I really got him now!

Time for all of us to take a nap together
on the dog love seat! :)

Cari continues to do well here. She did have one accident the other night when we had a very loud storm going through. She does not mind the rain, but will not go outside when the thunder is booming. She perked up inside when she heard it, but rolled over and went back to sleep. She sleeps well in her kennel at night and when we are not home. It is very much a safe place for her. She sure does love to lay in the yard, and in the house. She shakes and tosses toys around for the majority of her day. The remainder of the day is spent eating and sleeping.  She is very easy going!

Cari went to the vet today for a check up. I am happy to report that her fecal sample came back negative for everything, her spay incision has healed enough for a bath (which she will get tonight) and she is just as healthy as can be! She will remain on some antibiotics to manage her skin issues, but once they are gone she should be good to go. She has some minor hair loss, but it will come back with time. The vet said "By Christmas she will look like a golden again!" She just needs to gain about 8-10 more pounds and she will be about the right weight for a golden of her stature. Cari has sure started down the path to a golden life. It is amazing how she has adapted to her new environments. She seems truly happy in a home and is going to be a fabulous dog for one lucky family!

Cari will be meeting a potential adoptive Mom on Oct 13th! We are so very excited as it sounds like a match made in heaven! :)

I have claimed Juniors bed - and once and
awhile he lets me have it to myself.

I have also claimed my foster sister
Daphne's Octopus as my own!

Playing in the rain was very tiring!  I decided to snuggle with Junior on OUR bed to keep warm!

Hello everyone - Cari here!  I had a long car ride today and arrived at my new foster home in Iowa. I rode well in my crate in the car but was a little scared when I first arrived. Once they lowered my crate to the ground I came out and boy did I play with my new foster brother and sister. I may be skinny right now but I can play with the best of them and I have a very healthy appetite, I will gain more weight in no time!! I would love a forever home with another dog to play with. I would love to have my very own brother/sister!

I trotted right up the steps into the house and met the cats here with no problem. One must really like me and he keeps following me around and rubbing his face on my nose. I kind of like it but don't tell anyone!

After all of this we had some visitors. My foster Dad's nephew who is 6 came over to see me and boy is he fun. He throws toys for me to chase and shake and he has lots of little toys of his own I think are pretty neat too, but have learned they are not "my" toys. I tried!

I have had no accidents and have settled in pretty well and quickly. I love to be petted and will give you kisses on your hand if you pet me. I also do not get on the sofa even when invited, it is awful big and scary! You see I came from a puppy mill and a lot of things are scary, but I heard foster mom say how fast I accept new things. If you are looking for a new forever friend who is loyal, loving, and playful then I am your girl. I will not be a big dog, but I have a big heart!  I will dream about my forever family tonight and hope you find me soon!

Love,
Cari :)

I'm ecstatic to report that Cari has gained 10 pounds since coming into RAGOM's care. That's right, 10 pounds, she is now 37 POUNDS!! While she still looks very thin, it's great that she is gaining weight and is obviously getting healthy. She's still taking antibiotics for her skin since she was so covered in fleas and bites. The vet assured us that it will get better in time. Her ear infections are all cleared up, she got her booster shots and we made an appointment for her to be spayed. Thank goodness this poor girl will never have to go thru the pain of having multiple litters of puppies - she really is just a puppy herself.

A special thanks to her temporary foster mom for taking such great care of her while I was traveling. I know she had a wonderful time with her sister Lovie and mom Pudding.
